Hi there, thanks for your contact again.

There is a bug with traffic reporting. Please report this via the Tools menu in the Second Life software or file a new jira at http://jira.secondlife.com .

I'm sorry I don't have an immediate fix for this issue here. The developer team will need to work on this and this is a separate function from support tickets.

(5/30/08 9:42 AM PDT) Hello again, thanks for your contact.

I need to refer you to my previous answer relating to traffic counts. This is nothing to do with the email you received about regulations for a pg area. That would have come from our Governance Team perhaps?

I attach my last response re-traffic below.

Best Regards,

Matthew

I regret that there seems to be some kind of bug that is causing some issues with traffic count. We're not clear why as yet but there is a public issue JIRA that has been created - http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-2333

Please file as much information as you feel is relevant to that for now. This will greatly help our Developers in working out a resolution to the problem.

I'm sorry I don't have any quick fix for it as yet but hopefully our team will have one soon.

Closed Alexus_Flatley Flatley closing because im not getting anywere

6/6/08 6:14 AM PDT Customer Posted a Comment Alexus_Flatley Flatley ok today after being offline for a day my traffic is again messed up. the day before yesterday it was 12825 on ikon island and 1553 on ikon isle. today i have come on to find the island traffic at 10444 and the isle at 486. i know i have been told that there is a bug, but the bug is making people land counts go to 0 mine isnt which is why i have reopened this ticket. i feel i am wasting my time in trying to increase my traffic. totally unfair, i am wasting money to to get people in for one reason only. to increase the traffic but its not doing it. this may not be important to linden labs but it is to me. please please please look into this and not make out its another bug...

6/2/08 3:27 PM PDT Customer Posted a Comment Alexus_Flatley Flatley hi my traffic seems to be right now, it has counted properly, thank you =)

5/31/08 1:53 PM PDT Reopened Alexus_Flatley Flatley my traffic was not effected until a few days ago, today again it has gone down, i worked hard to get it up to 6987, then as above i stated it went to 3059 now today after having a full sim for at least 4 hours its dropped to 2808, this is so unfair as i have worked so hard with my land. i hope that the numbers will be stored and that i havent worked for nothing, hopefully this bug you speak of will be resolved asap. can you confirm my traffic count will be stored or backed up on one of your systems. also the email i got i never said it had anythinig to do with the traffic count, i was unsure about what it was about and wanted to find out=) thank you for yout time=) i just noticed from the link you sent about the traffic count all these show as zero, mine isnt, so maybe it can or should be looked into=)

5/30/08 9:42 AM PDT Sent Final Resolution Matthew Linden (See solution)

Hello Alexus,

Can you give a short summary of the observed bug, and keep the support-log as a reference?

From what I understand is your problem that your traffic count fluctuates more than you expect. It is not going down to zero as other bug reports mention.

Because the (fuzzy) way traffic is counted it is difficult to say if that is a bug, or the expected behavior. Traffic used to work like this, and I think it still works like this:

"Every user gets a set number of traffic points to give out during the 24 hours between midnight and midnight. Any parcel of land that the user spends more than 5 sequential minutes on gets counted as a place that they spent time. [Separate] parcels owned by the resident (or group) are counted as if they were the same parcel. The user's points are then evenly divided between those parcels. So, if I was online for 1 hour and spent 20 minutes on resident A's parcel and 40 minutes on resident B's parcel, resident A would get 33% of my points and resident B would get 66%. Alternately, if I only spent 5 minutes online and spent all of it on resident A's land, she would receive all of my points."
