 Description  « Hide
This is a meta issue to collate various feature requests concerning the avatar. That is, shapes, skins, eyes, clothing, attachments, and anything else related.

This is for feature requests and enhancements, not for bugs.

Like every other meta issue, I'm creating this because I'm seeing a lot of proposals for such things. And this should be a way to find them more easily. I personally feel a lot of avatar options are woefully underdeveloped.

Please link avatar related features/enhancements to this issue.

Linking this to New Feature VWR-1449, to add additional Tattoo layers to allow the use of tattoos with resident created skins without sacrificing a clothing layer.

actually i would rather see no more split avatar meshing and replaced with a more standard compelet avatar mesh to allow one solid texture creation for skin and clothing vs 3 and front to back but a seemless wrapping of the av skin and clothes like most basic video games have now days

SL avatars are awful. If another virtual universe wanted to compete with SL all they would have to do would be to have decent avatar meshes, and I think people would defect in droves.

Lucian. Why would one part be better than 3?

one part allos mixing and matching, for example, getting a new torso while keeping your face.

With regards to seams, you might be interested in Av Painter. A clothing and skin designed program developed specifically for SL, allowing you to pait directly onto a 3D avatar. It makes removing seams a very trivial task, and is highly recommended.

Added: VWR-1331 = Improve avatar rotation accuracy.
This one I was uncertain about adding, but it is an avatar issue, and restricts what can be done with projectiles from avatar models.

You know, the MakeHuman team has spent the last several years figuring out the best way to approach parameterized human modeling and animation, and they've done a top-notch job. The mesh is nigh flawless and adaptable to almost any conceivable human shape, targeted at animation, and has a fantastic uv layout that maximizes resolution and ease-of-use.

And it is opensource.
