From issue
I try to teleport - screen is dark - progress bar slowly moves
After about 50 seconds I get the message "you have been logged out..." This happens on every attempt. Also I cannot see or set/edit the groups I'm in. With Windows OS everything works normal Provider: UnityMedia, cable modem SBV5121E Second Life 1.21.6 (99587) Oct 14 2008 18:00:21 (Second Life Release) CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+ libcurl Version: libcurl/7.16.4 OpenSSL/0.9.7c zlib/1.2.3.3 c-ares/1.4.0 Tons of crashing on 1.21.6, lots of teleport hang-ups.
CPU: Intel Pentium III/Pentium III Xeon (0.25 micron process) with external L2 cache (2833 MHz) I'm having similar issues. 9 times out of 10 I try to TP anywhere the viewer disconnects just as stated. But then when I restart it, and log back in, I can't move my avatar, and things only load in about a 50m diameter around me. Its very peculiar, then I relog again and its back to normal...
I think I'll stick with the RC until theres a fix for this one. Second Life 1.21.6 (99587) Oct 14 2008 17:42:25 (Second Life Release) You are at 255807.8, 256699.0, 500.2 in Perry located at sim3528.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.22.9:13001) CPU: AMD (Unknown model) (2009 MHz) libcurl Version: libcurl/7.16.4 OpenSSL/0.9.7c zlib/1.2.3 ISP is Comcast (Pittsburgh, PA USA area), Modem is an Arris TM502g Telephony Modem, Router is Linksys WRT54G running DD-WRT v24 SP1 EDIT: I forgot to say, the last 1.20 build of the main viewer and the newest RC viewer both still allow TP's just fine on my system, its just 1.21.6 (99587) thats having the issue. I'm having the exact same problem as Magnet and Ella. It started with the two most recent releases. One odd thing I have noticed with a bit of testing is the problem seems to go away if I bypas my cable router and hook my PC direct to the cable modem. Odd thing is the router is configured with all outbound ports open (and its been working fine that way for a year and a half) and TP does work sometimes with the router in place, so its not a firewall issue where its blocking some port SL needs and you can NEVER TP.. It does TP properly sometimes through the router. It acts like just the added delay of the router screws up the region handover protocol most of the time.
Mac user here.
I am experiencing the "takes forever to teleport, then it fails" event as are others. Not all result in my being logged out, but occasionally that does happen. This did not take place with the 1.21.5 RC, but only began when I began to use the 1.21.6 version. With the help of tech support I was able to track down and fix my TP problem. Using a network packet loss test program (WinMTR-you can download it from the net-just Google it if you don't have it) that support recommended, I was able to determine that my cable router was performing poorly and at high packet rates, was dropping as much as 10% of its packets. It would work fine at lower packet rates. Once I determined that, I reduced the SL network bandwidth preference setting for the viewer from the default 500 kbps to 150 kbps and TP began to work properly again. No more water only regions (then crashing) after TPing. Of course, the viewer rezzing speed slowed down quite a bit as well. So I went out and bought a new cable router (my old one was 5 years old) and TP is working just fine with the newest viewer (1.21.6) with the network bandwidth set back to the default 500 kbps. So TP problems seem to be caused by packet loss somewhere in the network between your PC and SL's servers. Hope this helps resolve this problem.

I Teleport around a few times and then find myself in a sim where the sim name is correct but the parcel name is that of my previous location. If I look in the about land window the description is that of my previous parcel too. However I am able to move around, participate in chat, send im's. That is until I decide to teleport again, then I get the slow bar and the message that I have been logged out that others are reporting. This happens everytime I have the scenario I describe above, the sim name is correct but the parcel name isn't. Can we get a few more crash reports for us to review?
Well, it doesn't really crash when this happens.

It looks like it is dropping the old region before there is info from the new region available.
My system specs will are in the log. EDIT - This is a MacBook Pro (Intel) Thanks, Petaris This log is from the RC 1.22.0 (103345) build.
Maybe my situation can offer a clue.
I have this problem from late afternoon (GMT+2) to late evening. These would be the times that most people are using the internet in my small town. If I wait until really late (3am) after most others have gone to bed then I am able to TP just fine. I've tried this experiment several times over the past month or so and the pattern is always the same. Have just moved to a much faster service provider, still same problem, is it round trip delay that is killing us ???
i just got logged out 2x in a row, after the first time i relogged and made one teleport ok when i tried a second time i saw what was gonna happen so i hit the quit button stopped the teleport and still got logged out, i'm using public nightly 1-22-1(103552), i'll attach the crash log and when i get back in my system info. my service provider is cox cable high speed. i've been having this problem about a year now at 2 different locations as i moved about 100 miles away from where i got my second life account.

i have been logged out with Public Nightly 1-22-4(105784) more then i ever have, again logged out on an incomplete teleport, the bar moves really slow and when it gets to the half way mark i'm logged out and again i had other things going on that had no problems with the internet connection, sending a crash log.
logged out again on a failed teleport not just once,
failed teleport, logged out logged out again for the 3rd time inless than 30min, crash log attached.
I may have a workaround (at least for myself).
I have consistently had similar problems. I'm on (Ubuntu) Linux, and have also had all these same issues with the Open Metaverse viewer, Hippo, and the SL 1.22.4 client. Today, I disconnected my old SMC7004VBR broadband router and instead connected my computer directly to my ADSL modem. Suddenly (tonight, at least), all my clients (using all my logins) suddenly work nicely. I can teleport across regions. I can even fly across region boundaries. The problem may have been with the router. I also noticed that while I was setting up PPPOE, the driver wanted to limit my MTU (to 1460 or 1492, I think); perhaps this was related. I hope this info might be helpful to some of you. (Meanwhile, I will either replace my router, or else try setting its MTU). same for me, connected directly to the ADSL modem, all is good. once I add my wireless router in the middle it doesn't work again. looking at tcpdump output it looks like the wireless router is dropping UDP packets coming in (compare two tcpdumps, one directly connected and one with the wireless router in the way)
I do get the occasional UDP flood error message in the wireless router, so it seems there is some flooding algorithm there that starts dropping UPD packets. I can't work out how to turn it off.... hey all - just jumping in here randomly, i haven't read all the comments, so forgive my ignorance.
i know that wireless routers that use NAT will remap UDP packets back to the originating computer. they do this by port number. so if you computer is talking on port 13050 - any other computer (our simulators) who try to talk to 13050 will get connected to your computer. BUT SOME wireless routers will only let computers which your computer has first spoken-to initiate these packets. so if you talk to sim1 on port 13050, and then sim2 tries to talk to you back on port 13050, it won't get through. (b/c you've never spoken to sim2 before. he might be a hacker.) it sounds like this is what might be happening. i'll try to get ahold of one of this routers so i can test. in the meantime, i'd try switching routers, or changing the permissions on your router to allow the more promiscuous connections. This is all very nice in theory, however, the explanation does not cut it for me.
My router is a multi-Network-IF Fedora Core 8 linux box and I have full control over natting and port forwarding (iptables, shorewall). I would see any discarded packets in the logs. Also, on a PC behind this router running SL on Win-XP works, whereas SL on Linux ubuntu 8.04 (the preferred solution) does not. Moreover, during a short time after a kernel upgrade ubuntu worked too. Then I upgraded the video driver and again it does not work (see comments above). If it isn't dropped UDP packets between the router and Sim 1 or 2, couldn't it be dropped UDP packets between the sims?
Just a theory, I don't know what kind of packets the sims use for communications on the internal network, tho I suspect it's also UDP. Hi,
i've some days being having probs tp ing anywhere, yet other days theres no prob at all.Chrisi Toshihawas 21/08/08 12.34 pm post looks helpful though.Think ill try that later.i've found another workaround solution for not being able to tp at all though from any sim im in at time, so sim doesnt make dif. i've got another jira report based on the same. The link to my report is https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-11394 for me, which i will tell you about in a sentence or two.i have had next to no help from sl to fix this issue.Seems they stil don't have a fix for this or have solved it.All they have given me is links to other jira reports that may help me.So came to this report hoping to find answers to achieve a permanent fix but all i find is people repoting problems being able to tp but no answers or real help from sl. Anyway here's the workaround that i worked out myself from an article on secondlifes wbsite i read about it usually being a good idea to delete your secondlife cache files (but i knew that already; that its usually good idewad to get rid of cache files) and from an arror message i saw come up in bottom right of my screen when i was outside sl, saying unable to read or corrupted seondlife textures.exe file, so initially i put the two pieces of imformation together. i have Vista basic as my op system, so the options to click on may be slightly different in other versions of windows but if you stick with the logic you ahould be able to work out the correct options to click on and the correct address to go to on your op to go to same pace and delete same secondlife cache files as me. Initially i clicked on start, then clicked on computer, then clicked on c drive then i entered C:\users(the user name for my pc so obviously enter the user name for your particular pc) so once inside c drive section of computer in search bar at top enter C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Secondlife\Cache and click go to button at end of searchbar or click enter and youll get to where secondlife cache files are.Initially i just deleted the texture fuile as i believe the errors that accruie when i run sl are basically all located there. But after the 1st time i just delet all the cache files in secondlife\cache. i leave the secondlife\cache file open in another window whilst sl runs and anytime i start to get bad lag so think may start to get prob tp iong i open the cache window and delete all the files there i can whilst its still running. You will get a system message that comes up saying onme or two files are being used presently and asking if you want to try again, skip or cancel just click on skip for each opf these type of files and your op will delete the rest and send to recycle bin.i've also every time i can remember deleted all the cache files within secondlife\cache after ive logged. Its just a workaround and not a permanent fix which im after. It works for me though, i hope it works for you all.Since doing it, deleting all the files i can in sls caches and after logging deleting them all in sls caches i have never had any prob tping again and think when i delete all files poss in sl cache while its running it reduces lag too. After I posted about disconnecting my router, I realized something.
My router is also a firewall. When I unplugged from the router, I also eliminated its firewall. My problem may have simply been related to firewall rules or a NAT issue. It was open for UDP on 123 and for both TCP and UDP on 80, 113 , 443, 6881-6889, 24566, 45574 and 56043. Some of these were for P2P, others were specifically for Secondlife I'll watch this issue and await further developments. Not to spam the list, but - I observed this issue, just now, with this config:

Trace is always inaccurate on this ISP for the first 5 legs, as the nature of the nodes does not report back correctly for winMTR. If that were the case I would have zero internet connection, which is not the case. the london/new york connection has 0% packet loss whereas prior to that link it shows 91-100% packet loss, which would mean zero connection. All other online games work fine so does my internet, even streaming video is no problem., so why is it such an issue with SL ? Still happens to me with the viewer

I have however noted that although I have arrived at new destination. all info in the land tab is still for the previous location. And if you can get support to talk to me on this issue I will happily follow that route, but currently they won't. I can log in so it is not a problem !!! Upgraded to 1.23.2 RC viewer.
Updated graphics to NVidia 185.85. Makes no difference, average time I stay alive after a teleport, before being logged out by system is now 2 minutes !! Looks like it is back to OS grid and Open Life for me, as SecondLife is a dead Dodo at the moment. Just a quick update.
31 days....so far with teleports inoperable. Still the same problem, initial contact with new sim made, then connection lost to the ether within 2 mins. Further Update.
If according to this JIRA and SL, if "my end of the connection is so crap", how come I have no problems on OSgrid or OpenLife. Exact same problem, started the evening before all server/region problems begun.
9 of 10 times I cant TP, TP screen is very slow. If its almost halfway (after like 2minutes) I am kicked out from SL with this reason: You have been disconnected from the region you where in. So I need to log on again.
Etc etc ====== Second Life 1.23.4 (123908) Jun 11 2009 15:16:56 (Second Life Release) Built with MSVC version 1400 U bent op 288535.9, 274517.7, 401.0 in Minnow located at sim4467.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.54.117:13002) CPU: Intel Pentium 4 Northwood (2394 MHz) libcurl Version: libcurl/7.18.1 OpenSSL/0.9.8j zlib/1.2.3
Connection is WLan These same issues have been happening to me since upgrading to viewer 1.23.4 (123908) June 15, 2009 for about 75% of the time when I teleport.
Wish I could tell you there is a pattern. this happens under numerous conditions of avatar wearing different attachment, (Stiletto Moody Barefoot shoes, Bandit Jewelery, flexi prims skirts) etc, and music media on and off, going to full and not so full SIMs. Second Life 1.23.4 (123908) Jun 11 2009 15:16:56 (Second Life Release) Built with MSVC version 1400 You are at 288639.8, 267336.0, 56.1 in Beaulieu located at sim2936.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.19.179:13000) CPU: Intel Core 2 Series Processor (1794 MHz) libcurl Version: libcurl/7.18.1 OpenSSL/0.9.8j zlib/1.2.3 I'm currently using viewer 1.22. I've updated to 1.23 and experience the same problem. I've noticed that as of on or around July 13, 2009, I've also been experiencing teleport problems whenever I wear highly scripted attachments. I say highly scripted because I'm able to TP when I'm wearing scripted items, just not as MANY scripted items.
Since I own my own island I was able to do some investigating. I checked my avatar script time when I was wearing the highly scripted attachments and it was over 1 m/s. When I remove the heavily scripted attachments, my avatar script time falls under 1 m/s and I'm able to TP again. Item Examples that I've worn that are highly scripted and cause my avi to go over 1m/s script time:
When wearing the "highly scripted" attachments if I try to TP anywhere, I first get an error "Unable to complete your teleport request, please try again later". If I try to TP again too soon, I get an error "Teleporting is blocked". If I try to TP again before waiting at least 60 seconds I get logged out of SL. As a jewelry maker with a scripted system it's a potentially major business impacting problem. So far, I've received one report of a customer of mine experiencing the same problem. If she wears the jewelry I made, she can't TP. If she takes off the jewelry, she can. ********************************************************************************************* Second Life 1.22.11 (113941) Mar 6 2009 12:50:02 (Second Life Release) You are at 186563.8, 320957.3, 29.3 in Larette Island located at sim7407.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.34.154:13001) CPU: Intel Pentium III/Pentium III Xeon (0.25 micron process) with external L2 cache (2975 MHz) libcurl Version: libcurl/7.16.4 OpenSSL/0.9.7c zlib/1.2.3 ISP: Comcast I've crashed several times tping to other sims , even sim information isnt showing anymore in login.
