If the OGP-patched OpenSim region is misconfigured with a DNS Host Name in the region's external_host_name XML attribute, the viewer apparently receives the unresolved DNS name. The Viewer expects an IP Address and in responsse, attempts to send to 255.255.255.255. This is a local broadcast address and should never be issued by the Viewer no matter what kind of garbage comes back from the Region.
