Basic gist,

only allow a sim to be called "Molesworth" if the estate it is assigned to does not currently have a sim named "Molesworth"

Mainland/Molesworth
Bay City/Molesworth

Any attempt to create another sim called "Molesworth" in either the "Mainland" or "Bay City" estates should result in failure, with an optional notice to the effect of "There is already a Region with that name in that Estate. Do you wish to assign the sim to a new Estate, or change the name of the Region ?"

OK...except "Bay City" is NOT an "Estate" ...just part of a Mainland continent named Sansara.

Making a level similar to Estate for the Mainland, makes sense..but calling it Estate would be too confusing... given the legacy of resident's understanding of Estate vs. Mainland. (Estates are managed by Estate Owners who make and enforce rules and collect tier, Mainland is managed by the Lindens)

So, the Mainland, would have to be divided up into areas which duplicate region names would be disallowed.

So would the message read:

"There is already a "Molesworth" Region in the "Bay City" Province" with a "OK" button to dismiss. Bringing you back to the naming box.

The bit about "assign the sim to a new Estate" seems a bit too many choices for one action.

1) Is there a reason why it couldn't be ?
2) Given the discussion with Sai on hierarchical Region Domains, is there a reason why the "Mainland" Region Domain couldn't contain the "Sansara" Region Domain which contains the "Bay City" Region Domain ?

It is a cool idea but how are we to distinguish the differences on the worldmap between several sims with the same name? In fact all the sims would need the estate name attached to them to distuingish the counterparts. Maybe the first few letters of the estate name (if that first few letters is already there then use another letter added on, etc.) could be prepended on the sim name on the worldmap search box.

In example;
Sim klastos in estate Vincent
Sim klastos in estate Virtual

Search box search for klastos:
klastos, Vinc.
klastos, Virt.

Currently, the world map window makes no distinction- I'd suggest a separate column for estate names, that can be toggled on and off as needed.
