well this has just started to happen recently. whenever i try to fly at said server version i either don't fly or it takes a really long time to respond. i'm guessing its physics or something but because it is happening in general i'm not entirely sure as to what its affecting. it IS affecting some other residents as well.

double-checked with a friend and confirmed it. also not affecting only mouselook so bumped to showstopper

Minevera Boucher added a comment - 30/May/08 09:35 PM
well it seemed to have disappeared off the map so i'm closing the issue and bumping it down to "normal" priority.

well found-out this morning that its still there, ya just gotta start flying when you're standing still and getting a hovering start. Its ok for when you're walking/running and you go into fly though. i'll reiterate that this is certainly a bug and most likely the cause of this IS Server Version 1.22. my only recommendation would be a rollback to 1.21 or get the next update rolling-out ASAP.

on a slightly unrelated note the asset system hasn't been responding well since the roll-out so it should be a critical issue if it'll affect performance of that magnitude.

What region is this happening in?

Minevera Boucher added a comment - 31/May/08 07:38 AM
as far as i know if you try this in any region it happens. 2 regions i have been getting this in are Northstar and Fox Valley.

Harleen Gretzky added a comment - 31/May/08 08:00 AM
Doesn't happen to me at all, even in the regions listed above.

There is a known issue with some flight assist scripts and the Release Candidate version of the viewer, are you using the RC? And if so, maybe an attachment is causing this?

Minevera Boucher added a comment - 31/May/08 08:09 AM
i am not using any of the RC viewers; though i am using the flight feather 1.1 script. also are you sure you're standing still and then enabling flight mode?

I was seeing a similar problem last night:

(without any flight assist attachments)
Starting from a hovering position (flying, but stationary)

  • Press and hold [Up Arrow], [Down Arrow], [Page Up] or [Page down] key
Observe: Avatar remains stationary for a while (sometimes up to 5 seconds) before starting to fly

This was observed multiple times at just-above ground level

Today, I cannot reproduce this. It's either not happening any more, or the delay is so small that it is unnoticeable

Harleen Gretzky added a comment - 31/May/08 10:00 AM
Yes, completely still, hit Home key, flight is instant. I have a flight feather also, I will try it with that. Flight feather seems to make no difference, my flight is still instant.

I am experiencing the problem Gellan is talking about, hover for 30 seconds or so and then try to fly has about a 5 second delay, but that is SVC-2443

thanks for the link on it Harleen, at least its known by the higher-ups and will hopefully get resolved quick.

I have another issue related to this posted on Jira http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-2443. Today, 1/6/08, tried again at ground level. At first I thought all was well. Hovered, flew up, flew down, then hovered again. STUCK! Took repeated hits on the Page Up key to get flying again. This only happens near the ground. Higher up there is no problem. May also be related to the rezzing of objects Jira I ented. At ground level objects rez above the ground, at high altitude, 650m, they are partially in the surface on which they are rezzed.

Has this issue been fixed in the recent server updates ? Would all the reporters be happy to mark this as Closed ?
