 Description  « Hide
    • We need a reliable repro for this bug before we can solve it. If you have a repro that's semi-reliable (doesn't have to be the same as my steps here), post it in a comment.**
This repros intermittently, but when it does, here's the steps:
      1) Rez an object that you have the right to copy
      2) Right-click the object, "Take"

Expected behavior:
a) Object should disappear from in world
b) Prim count on parcel should drop
c) Object should appear in inventory

Observed behavior:
a) Object stops rendering in world, and can't be selected, but is still physical (can bump into it)
b) Prim count on parcel stays the same
c) You don't get the object in your inventory

A restart of the region fixes a and b, but not c. (i.e. the object just disappears)

This falls under SVC-114, but I wanted to report this bug to say that we're aware of this new permutation.

Firstly, there are cases when you would not have a copy of a copiable object lost due to this bug. For instance if you had newly created the object and this was the first time you had taken it (and didn't have the foresight to use the "take a copy" option first). This could result in the loss of work, time and effort if you had been working on a build or script.

Secondly, there are reports of the same behaviour being seen with no-copy objects - http://forums.secondlife.com/showthread.php?t=186938

Matthew Dowd added a comment - 29/May/07 01:05 AM
This is becoming a hot topic in the forums, with multiple threads appearing on this topic daily - this seems to be happening more frequently that the bug 1.16 was claiming to fix!

It doesn't appear to be limited to copiable items, so is resulting in inventory losses.

Many of the copiable objects being reported lost represent hours of scripting or building work being lost.

This bug is critical and needs resolving fast!

meni kaiousei added a comment - 29/May/07 01:47 AM
" c) You don't get the object in your inventory . (i.e. the object just disappears, which is usually OK because you have a copy anyway) "

This is definitely *NOT* ok. If it is een object you created yourself and are working on. I my (changed) work because of this bug.

Meni.

Matthew Dowd added a comment - 29/May/07 01:54 AM
Although this may be a special case of SVC-114, I'm re-opening this as this particular permutation seems new since 1.16, and from the reports coming in from the forums seems far more common than the previous bug apparently fixed in 1.16.

It IS causing loss - particularly to builders, and does appear to also occur with no-copy items causing inventory loss.

Which Linden added a comment - 02/Jun/07 02:18 AM
Yeah, this is sufficiently new and different to warrant its own bug. I don't know the code well enough to say whether it's the same as the related bugs. Bumped to critical (so it can keep those showstoppers company

Which Linden added a comment - 04/Jun/07 12:10 PM
This is caused by an error case that would have deleted the objects anyway. When you take an object, the simulator uploads the object's data to the asset server, and this bug is caused by a timeout in that upload.

We are working on a fix to prevent the loss altogether by returning the object to the sim if it fails to upload.

I have the same issue this morning. I get an extra 14 prims object that I cannot return, delete or take. It is invisible now but remains under Select / Sat upon as 14 prims. Please help.

Remus Lykin added a comment - 06/Jun/07 11:31 AM
I have the same problem with two parcels on the Tortosa sim, as Meridith Staheli. In one parcel there was great difficulties with deleting/taking two items of respectively 10 (on June 5th) and 47 (on June 4th) prims. They disappeared/turned invisible, but now show up as 'selected/sat upon' and have no owner under the 'objects' tab.

In another parcel I today (June 6th) created a single prim object (a box) then attempted to delete it again. This failed although I tried several times. I tried to relog and when I was back, the box was gone, but the prim was still present as 'selected/sat upon'.

This means I can't risk building anything anymore out of fear that should I delete or take anything, it would instead disappear into invisibility and fill up my parcels. Please help NOW!

And it seems it's not only an asset server bug, since it's not only what you try to take into your inventory, but also something in world that you're trying to delete.

Meredith Staheli added a comment - 06/Jun/07 12:44 PM
I completely agree with Remus Lykin.

These are the steps to reproduce the issue:
1) Rez an 14 prims object on my house floor that I have the right to copy
2) Right-click the object and choose "Take"
3) The object stay there for a min or two and not going away
4) Right-click the object again and choose "Delete" this time
5) The object stay there and not disappearing
6) Choose clear cache, log off and log back on

Expected behavior:
a) Object should disappear from in world
b) Prim count on parcel should drop by 14 prims
c) Object should appear in inventory

Observed behavior:
a) Object stops rendering in world, and can't be selected, but is still physical (can bump into it by lag movement near that spot where that object rez)
b) Prim count on parcel stays the same
c) I don't get the object in your inventory

Remus Lykin added a comment - 06/Jun/07 02:37 PM
To formalise my issue:

1) Rez an object with 10 prims that I have the right to copy
2) Right-click the object, "Take"
3) The object remains in world and can be selected.
4) Right-click the object again and choose 'Delete'
5) The object still stays in world.
6) Choose clear cache, logs off and then logs on again.

Expected behavior:
a) Object should disappear from in world
b) Prim count on parcel should drop
c) Object should appear in inventory

Observed behavior:
a) Object disappears from view.
b) Prim count on parcel however stays the same
c) I don't get the object in my inventory, also not in the 'trash' folder.

This is still in the Tortosa sim. If a restart of the region helps this problem, I would like to request this.

Lara Basevi added a comment - 06/Jun/07 03:09 PM
I have this problem since about 10 days. I worked on 2 hairs with a sum of 185 prims. I tried to take/delete them, but they did not disappear. After log off/on the hair was not more visible, but their prims were still added to the primcounter, AND that I would "sit on 185 prims"...... I read, that the primcounter would be correct after a region-restart, but it is not. Then I divided my land into more parcels, and I hoped, it would have an effect to the primcounter. The only change is, that I do not "sit on 185 prims" any more. But the prims are still lost. If I would have this problems with 3 prims, I would not be very angry. But 185 prims are really a lot! I need them and I'm really very frustrated to get no help. I do not dare to work on new objects with much prims, because when it would happen again, I would have NOTHING.

Sorry for my bad english...

Mercury Leshelle added a comment - 06/Jun/07 05:37 PM
I have now also suffered this problem.

I rezzed a 29 Prim object,

right clicked and Take, the object did no vanish,

I right click Delete, still did not clear,

logged off,
log back on and now it is gone, but I bump into it.
and 29 prims are reporting as "selected / sat upon"

On a 512m parcel I was hoping to sell, with only 117 prims before loosing 29 prims, this is a real problem. is this mainland region due a restart soon for Banquo (240, 232, 25) ??? please???

alianis vella added a comment - 06/Jun/07 05:43 PM
I had the same problem today with this and im trying to build a house n the 2 items are using all my prims needed to put furniture, im afraid to put anything else down or basically to low to place it.

These are the steps to reproduce the issue:
1) Rez 2 objects total 46 prims on my land that I have the right to copy
2) Right-click the objects and choose "Take"
3) The object stay there not going away
4) Right-click the objects again and choose "Delete" this time
5) The object stay there and not disappearing, the option to Take ior return no longer there
6) Choose clear cache, log off and log back on

Expected behavior:
a) Object should disappear from in world
b) Prim count on parcel should drop by 46 prims
c) Object should appear in inventory

Observed behavior:
a) Objects stops rendering in world, and can't be selected,
b) Prim count on parcel stays the same (+46 prims that are not there)
c) I don't get the object in your inventory

Mercury Leshelle added a comment - 07/Jun/07 04:05 AM
Today I tried to see if I could find a way of clearing the objects still stuck in my land, the 29 prims that do not dissapear from the land info even tho nothing can be seen of them anymore.

I tried selling the land to a good friend without passing on the objects, and they could see 29 objects not owned by them, it shows the SHOW button and RETURN button, on hitting return it responds as expected and comments the items will be returned to their owner. but they remain shown and do not clear.

Now with the land sold back to me the items show as owned by parcel owner, the SHOW and RETURN buttons are functional, but still 29 prims remain on the land and cannot be cleared. I have nothing on my land now except these phantom objects! PLEASE HELP!

Location inworld is:

Banquo (240, 232, 25)

I am having the same issue,

In the first two instances of this happening, I was not at my own land, so I didn't take much notice after the objects finally disappeared from sight (out of sight out of mind) Being a copyable vehicle, I was unable to tell if that copy came back to inventory.
When it happened at my parcel, I noticed the issue of the prims remaining in limbo in "selected/sat upon"

These are the steps to reproduce the issue:
1) Rez 1 object of 29 prims on my land that I have the right to copy
2) Right-click the objects and choose "Take"
3) The object stay there not going away
4) Right-click the objects again and choose "Delete" this time
5) The object stay there and not disappearing, the option to Take ior return no longer there
6) Choose clear cache, log off and log back on

Expected behavior:
a) Object should disappear from in world
b) Prim count on parcel should drop by 29 prims
c) Object should appear in inventory

Observed behavior:
a) Object no longer appears in world
b) Prim count on parcel stays the same (29 prims in "selected/sat upon")
c) Object copy does not return to inventory.

same as above at Figaro (89, 113, 80) with 13 prims

Happened to me today with a 113 prim object on a 512m parcel.

Rezzed the object, tried to take it. Take didn't work, object still rezzed, tried to delete. Nothing happened. Relogged/cleared cache, now the object is invisible but is still physical and shows in land prim count as "selected/sat upon".

Okay.. i am a victim of this bug as well... yesterday the 6th of june when a lot didnt work correctly in SL i try to take/delete two objects as well. Together it was 30 prims. They appeared to be out of sight however prims are stillcounted as being selected or sat upon.

however at the same time the about land tab says that 0 prims are owned by the owner and 0 prims are owned by any other.

i have relogged in and out... did a clear cache procedure but nothing helps.. its now a day later and still the prims are counted.

location Severy 24,181,76

please lindens fix this

Ailik Ulich added a comment - 08/Jun/07 04:55 AM
As others have also commented, I'm not sure this bug is only related to taking into inventory. I have had numerous times in the last week where I wanted to delete a prim but it would not go away but then it disappears sometimes hours later.

The way I got around this was to drag the prim where its not in the way and just let it sit there. And then I found I could drag this prim even to neighboring parcels.

Also I found spot in my place that I could not move into and wondered if it was one of the "invisible" prims. I still cannot move through that spot. Maybe I'm being greifed by someone taking advantage of this bug

Hi all,
First, sorry for my english, I am french.

I have exactly the same problem on my parcel:

Try to delete cache and re-login : the car disapear but enveloppe still, I can not walk !
Nothing visible with Ctrl+Shift+R, BUT my tools detect an ACTIVE script BATMOBILE

I thing the object is really deleted but as a attached script still active, the enveloppe still also .

If anybody can help me to clean my parcell Loogaroo (153, 246, 22) will be great. A return all object (0 owner) do not fix it.
If not, will try to sale it ;(

Nice Day

Wendy

I stop putting extra objects on my parcels now unless this issue get resolved soon. I can't even acquire more lands to build things. This is getting very inconvenience to residents on the mainland. Besides, if LL can stop others mixing residential parcels with commerical parcels, I believe many residents will love SL more; there are big sales signs everywhere blocking people nice hosues and nice views.

Re-Hello hi,

Sorry for my english again but try to read CARREFULLY this note :

As was noticed for try to resolve the problem I have try to buy my land without object to my alt account ( my alt is for test script only )
So I have set my land to sell for 1L$ 4416 sq for my alt account without any object.

I have press ok button, and I have receive in half of second 1 $ from Kerry Cxxxxxxx.. I lost my land for 1L$ in 500 msec.

How is possible for an unknown AV to buy my land in half second ?!!!!

So please DO NOT TRY DO SALE YOUR LAND FOR RESOLVE THE PROBLEM !!!

I am very stupid to have try this, I have lost my problem, and all my land,

Bloody Friday, I will stop SL.

Wendy ;(

Meredith Staheli added a comment - 08/Jun/07 09:27 AM
Sorry for your land lost Wendy. But quitting SL is not going to help yourself or others. We should stay together and become a strong voice to LL. Do you know some rich residents live on the islands with nice residential houses? Then they come back to the mainland to buy lands and mess up the beautiful grid. If you quit now, it is going to be suffer for the others or newbies who do not know the facts.

Wendy Umarov added a comment - 08/Jun/07 10:00 AM
Dear Meredith,

I do no quit SL yet, just I need spycholochic support , lost my land because I have follow this forum.

I hope really somebody can help me to retreive my house, bed, and of course X!Cite carpet. I am very stupid today. So please again, why anybody can buy you land in 1/2 sec in magic way, I can not do that, I do not known why is possible.

When I logged on yesterday June 10, 2007 around 19:00 EST, the 14 extra prims were gone on the 'selected/sat upon' section.

I was happy for a very short moment. Then I found out the 14 extra prims were added to my prims used section. The object 'Fred' (the 14 ghost prims) is now/still in my house and takes up the exact same spot that I rez it on June 06, 2007. However, It is still invisible even under show transparent.

I asked one of my friends ran a scan on my house objects; here is the finding that we have:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[16:36] scanProbe:

ObjectName: Fred

OwnerRating, Appearance: 0
OwnerRating, Building: 0
OwnerPayInfo: No Payment Info on File AND Payment Info Used. (Only Beta/Lifetime users fall under this status)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I do not believe by returning all my 234 prims (included the 14 extra prims) will help resolve this issue. There are 14 ghost prims sitting on my parcels and become my issue. My friend and I have made an assumption that something may not be correct on the server side/MySQL of LL.

I want to be a loyal SL resident and enjoy it every bit. Please HELP Liden Lab.

Remus Lykin added a comment - 10/Jun/07 06:38 AM
So, it happened again. This time with a simply straightforward object with 6 prims. A large object though, of 20x30 metres. I went through the same steps as last time then, and also got the same result.

Atthough, the object is still there, blocking for entry.

Now I can't enter my house because of this. This is becoming ridiculous, Lindens! What the hell are we supposed to do?

Please fix this! How difficult can it be? It's obviously a server problem. Or just restart the region! Please!

Matthew Dowd added a comment - 10/Jun/07 06:59 AM
Copied from SVC-255 (WarKirby Magojiro) since there's an offer of a "test zone" with some affected prims:

I'm posting this on behalf of Tx Oh, and also myself.

Recently, I've been seeingg a few odd prims. Prims which are completely invisible, even in view transparent. (and these are not alphablocking prims). They also cannot be selected.

For all intents and purposes, they don't exist. Except that they are solid. Cannot be walked through.

Until now, I thought this was an unreproduceable irregularity, and so didn't bother reporting it.

But today, I've run into Tx Oh, who seems to be cursed with creating one of these almost every time he deletes a prim. On his screen, though. The prim appears as normal, mostly. Except that is has no creator or owner, and refuses to delete. To other people, though. They are invisible and cannot be selected. But are still solid..

He is still able to select these prim. Move them, edit them, script them, etc.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Metaversum%20B/27/228/41

This SLURL leads to his property, where he now has many of these objects, visible only to him, but still blocking passage of others. He has kindly agreed to allow it's use for testing and QA in this matter..

I exchanged my land with nice a resident who tried to help me today. He got my 14 invisible prims after he bought my land and could not return those prims to me or deleted them.

I peak the usage of my land fee this month so it will cost me another $7 US next month.

This is the money to fee the bug and maintain the buggy land I have. I should be happy I have this bug freind with me in my house. I guess I could have made a donation to Arbor Project with this money instead of feeding the bug but.....

My friends come to an assumption after thorough scans that LL MySQL Table is somehow corrupted. It takes 0.01 or smaller value as abs 0 so the object is zero and mass is zero, but the tiny little value is still get stuck and taking up spaces (14 prims) on my land and may be yours too. Somehow this database table vale needs to be purge or manually reset. I don't know how often they purge their database or they just roll over old server/plot and reuse them.

My bug friend, Fred, in world location is:
<216.65062, 17.51180, 64.28399>
Triglav (220, 19, 63)

I thank you for all my freinds supports to help me this weekend:

I'm on the receiving end of this bug. I own the 0,0,0 spot in Salerio and other people's stuff shows up there (some copy, others no-copy). The items still register as "selected/sat upon" back on the original parcel they disappeared from. I can't auto-return them. The right-click menu DOES give me the option to return or delete them, but when I try I just get a server error. I've also tried having the item owner take/delete them, and the owner of the parcel they disappeared from, but they can't do it either.

Some people can see them and others can't (even looking at the spot at the same time), and a Linden who came out about it said he saw them but only flickering and from certain angles. Also, the same person can see the items at some times but not others. The items CAN be selected, but not in the normal way... the first "right-click -> edit" brings up the edit box blank, and a second "right-click -> edit" (with the edit box still open) loads the item info into the edit box.

As stated in the original report, restarting the region makes the items go away. The "selected/sat upon" prims are freed up again on the original parcel, but the item does not return to the owner's inventory. In the case of no-copy items, the item is permanently lost.

Based on what I've seen in the forums in the past few weeks, this bug has become very common.

I've never seen this with taking objects. But it's happening more and more frequently when trying to delete an inworld object.

I've got one now. Ferox 84,157,29

Here's how I (accidentally) made it.

1. I stood on a posing stand
2. Created a prim between my feet.
3. Expanded it to the width and length of my body, then increased the height untiul my av was entirely covered
4. Hollowed the prim to the max
5. Textured the entire thing with 100% alpha texture.
6. Retextured the interior with blank texture. Colored it black.
---- a while later —
7. Attempted to delete the object. this failed.
8. After several attempts, the obejct was still there. I could modify it and move it around thoguh.
9. I discovered that the object itself, had apparently become phantom. And invisible to everyone but me.
10. However, in the object's original place, non moveable, non selectable. There is a solid bounding box.. Non visible.

This can't be returned or deleted.

This has happened to me twice now.

The first time was with a copy object, so I have not lost anything but my friend Remus Lykin now has 10 undetectable prims taking up room on his land in Tortosa (see previous comments).

Today, I rezzed a NO COPY necklace on the beach at Borabon sim, tried to take it back, and the same thing happened - now it appears to be hanging in the air on the beach, and I can look at object properties and move it, but I cannot take it or delete it and the landowner (Yannic Yifu) cannot find it through the 'about land' options. Going by previous experience, it will eventually disappear from sight, but NOT from the land prim allowance.

This is taking up nearly 200 prims on someone else's sim AND when he restarts the sim to try to fix it, I will lose my no-copy item.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

These are the steps to reproduce the issue:
1) Drop one 12 prims-object on my land
2) Right-click the object and choose "Take"
3) The object stay there not going away
4) I logged out
5) I logged in back
6) The object has disappered from the land, and is not in my inventory

Expected behavior:
a) Object should disappear from the land when I took It
b) Prim count on parcel should drop by 42 prims
c) Object should appear in inventory

Observed behavior:
a) Object seemed to have disappeared
b) Prim count on parcel stays the same (+42 prims that are not there)
c) 42 Prims are displayed in "Selected / Sat upon"
d) I don't find the object in my inventory

This disappeared object is "no-copy" ((((((

THIS IS WORRYING BUG

Well , after reading all this above, I feel better to know its not my own ignorance apparently. I am experiencing the same problem , so I came here hoping for a solution, and so far only found complaints ,and the faint light of hope(where's a rolling regional restart when you NEED one?). The sim it happened to me in was CALLETA. I pulled an old build of mine out to scrap some parts from , then tried to delete the leftovers, twice, thought i was experiencing the usual lag problem, when they finally disappeared. So I continued on about my building , only to find out I have 213 prims somewhere , that I didn't want where ever they were.Needless to say ,I commenced to pullin my hair out trying to find them, including tearing down and deleting everything I had built there, to no avail.WOW. Bummer. While reading WENDY UMAROV's story , I got chills , cause I was one step away from duplicating her incident. I'm glad to hear it worked back out for her.Well , I hope tomorrow's update help's everyone out, just had to add my two cents , to help the voice of the residents of SL be heard to the ears of LL. GOOD LUCK everybody.

In the comments on the SL blog about the search postmortem, I've seen three (out of 20ish) that seem to be about this (though one claims to be something different but sounds kinda related). Perhaps a blog post would be in order, acknowledging the problem (in a more public way than JIRA) and indicating some progress?

Benja Kepler added a comment - 13/Jun/07 12:25 AM
I have the same problem and here are my observations:

The number of residents was over 40,000 and I had an object, newly created, that was not deleting as expected. When selected, its name field was empty and it said that I could not modify it, even though I had just created it. I tried this with other objects and now have the invisible, can't walk through, objects as described above.

My 'selected/sat on' count of objects is now 6, and my owned objects count is 59, with 'primitives on parcel' at 65.

Other residents are allowed to create objects, with auto-return set to 2 minutes.

Could it be that the object deletion process is being interrupted, during heavy database load, and the object is in 'limbo'?

Two people that belong to my group lost both items because of this bug. And they weren't cheap items.
What should they do to get the items back?

A solution please!

My neighbor got this issue few times in a week. However, those ghost prims got cleared up in a short period of time. He does not have multiple objects on the ground at the same time nor and any objects inside another object. (my situation is I have 14 ghost prims inside my house). It seems that the ghost prims can be cleared out fast if it is an open ground/area and there is no complex structure near by. But many of us do not want to return everything every time in order to work-around this issue. Is it something going on in world that LL is not aware; like land bots.

I have an invisible prim smack in the middle of my business. I have tried everything to get rid of it, even as other Avs trip over it! CTRL/ALT T doesnt show it. It appears as 30 objects in my OBJECTS list in About Land. Doesn't "show" an owner. I have selected RETURN on the 30 objects a dozen times, relogged and tried again and again. I HOPE its a glitch and not a bot!

Linden, dears, you need to help us all out with this!

I tried to rez a house on June 12. Only half of it rezzed, and then I read the SL blog that mentions rezzing problems during that time. I then tried to take the front of the house, but that turned the section into ghost prims (I can bump into it, I cannot see it, and the parcel's prim count stayed the same).

Hank Goodliffe added a comment - 13/Jun/07 09:43 AM
I lost a total of 20 different items June 12th due to this issue. After Tuesday my friends sim is covered in these invisable objects, none of which i'm sure will ever be recovered. Both take and deleted caused these items to invisable out with neither putting anything back into inventory.

Matthew Dowd added a comment - 13/Jun/07 12:42 PM
Since yesterday, this bug (or a very similar variant) has been increasingly common. Initial reports on the forum (2 reports in the 30 minutes the grid has been open) indicates this bug still persists in 1.17 and is getting worse rather than better. Definitely not limited to copy items. Bumping this to blocker, on the basis this is getting to the point of preventing many from risking doing anything in SL which involves creating, rezzing or removing prims!

Charlene Trudeau added a comment - 13/Jun/07 12:56 PM
While I cannot comment on inventory losses, I can state that I am regularly having to restart the five sims on my estate due to deleted prims still counting against land prim counts. You can go into about land, show objects by owners, add those totals and subtract from the primitives the simulator supports (ie, all prims allowed for that parcel(s) by that owner and come up short. On SkyBeam Sandbox, where creating/deleting prims is so widely prevalent, this accounts for hundreds to thousands per day and I am up to restarting the SkyBeam sim a minimum of twice daily. This hugely impacts the traffic flow and the ability of folks to work.

It is also inherently evident that griefers can use this to cause further mischief. The rezzing of 20 or so huge spheres yesterday resulted in many trapped avatars when the resulting ghosted prims remained solid.

I was very hopeful that today's update would have cured this ill, but it upon initial review of the sims upon login it would not appear to be the case. The situation became markedly serious after the last update.

This is still an issue today 2007-06-13, version 1.17.0(12)

The problem is bad enough to make SL completely unusable for me and several others I've spoken to, and prims left in our shops and combat sims are causing problems for everyone that visits.

Region (island) Salin

rezzed object: prefab mansion 1170 prims
unlink and delete bit by bit, 203 prims turn into ghosts

restarted sim

delete ~30-35 objects, ALL of them turned into ghosts
sofa -> take to inventory, no item in inventory but item turns into a ghost

restart sim

items gone (rollback requested)

this issue is out of control and more serious then critical/stopper/blocker

sparkly rainbow added a comment - 13/Jun/07 02:09 PM
This is definitely not only related to copy items. I lost an no-copy object today when i tried to take it back into inventory. The item is not invisible, non-selectable, and an obstacle to movement in my home. It is also counting against the prims on my land, but not showing up as owned by me in the list of objects on the property.

This really needs to be corrected immediately.

Damanios Thetan added a comment - 13/Jun/07 02:11 PM
I've removed the 'this is usually okay, as you have a copy anyway'. As this remark seriously understates the severity of this issue, and is irrelevant.
Fact is, most changes, new versions or related items are created from existing objects. These new derived objects and the hours work involved are permanently gone on a 'take'.

Korena Starbrook added a comment - 13/Jun/07 02:28 PM
this is a very serious bug - I spent several hours working on a project then though - I had better take a copy in case something goes wrong - I tried but nothing happened. I TP'd to another location and returned shortly only to land on top the invisble object.

The SIM eventually was restarted because of this problem (imagine the sandbox issues here) and all my work was gone

This bug should be a very high priority.

I had the same problem shortly before the 1.17.0 update with client 1.16.0

I thought 1.17.0 will fix the problem and get the items back to lost and found. It did not.

Today bought the same item (2700L) rezed it (client 1.17.0) very close the same spot as yesterday. Same effect:

Take item
Hourglass going, going, going. Since 23 minutes now
Not in inventory
Object still there
Can not select "take" anymore
Prim count still on land

Damage now: 5400L

If I log out, object will be gone, prim count still up, object invisible, can´t take it, not in inventory

What I noticed (and sorry I am no techie): I am building an object and creating new prims to add to it. These are basic, non-sculpted prims. Building occurred in Tamarind Bay.
I find I cannot link some prims to the build, simple box prims with default textures. I can change their size, colour and texture, I can move them about, but I can't link them or delete them. These prims have lost their name (it's a blank field, not even 'object') and I cannot rename them. Owner and creator name, group title etc. have also disappeared. When selected together with other objects (using Shift) they do show up in the prim count of the selected objects on the first tab of the Build window. Window says I cannot modify the object.

The Linden needed the sim where this was observed.
A short duration later the issue was resolved for sim CF plaza.

Yes, it has just happened to me again, a few minutes ago, now I'm left with 74 ghost prims after I tried to take an item back to my inventory - a no copy item I would like to add which is now lost forever ((

I really need someone to clear those ghost prims from my parcel because I'm now left with just 10 prims - Ghul 169, 76, 22, and please do it fast.

I have lost so much inventory stuff by now and I'm really getting frustrated, I won't go shopping again untill this is really fixed.

Beezle Warburton added a comment - 14/Jun/07 12:00 AM
This is very much not fixed, although I'm having an odd variation.

I'm having to clear cache and relog every time I want to delete something.

I can reproduce it every time.

1) Rez a project from inventory.
2) Fiddle with it a little.
3) Attempt to delete it or take it.
4) Watch the object stay put, but now with the name, description, owner and creator now blank.
At this point, you can still move it around but do naught else to it.

However, after a cache clear and relog, the object is gone.

Matthew Dowd added a comment - 14/Jun/07 12:34 AM
From the blog: "It appears that the asset server issues we have had over the past few days may be hardware related."

I suspect that this is an oversimplification - as Which Linden indicates the bug occurs when there is a timeout to the asset server. I suspect the hardware problems just increased the frequency of such timeouts.

As such, the bug hasn't been fixed, but a trigger causing it to frequently occur has been removed.

I am dropping this to critical rather than blocker, as technically it isn't causing the grid to completely fail, and with the hardware fix, hopefully the frequency of this occuring has dropped.

However, even before the recent escalation, it was still pretty commonly seen, and this is IMHO the most important bug needing to be addressed at this time,

vinhold starbrook added a comment - 14/Jun/07 12:36 AM
I had the same thing happen as described by Beezle Warburton.
I observed that two Items consisting of multple prims I rezzed, when I deleted them using the click menu, failed to delete leaving the items still there. On inspecting them I found the root prim to be assigned to (nobody) while all others were still assigned to me as owner / creator. The objects could not be removed or done anything more with them. I attempted to repeat this problem by creating a cube and deleting it as done above. The cube appeared to be deleted as normal. I had no way to verify if the sim item counts changed or not. On another object of mutiple prims when selected in edit mode and deleted with the delete key it appeared to be removed as expected. Perhaps my next session on I will get better results at how this is happening.

Javier Puff added a comment - 14/Jun/07 06:20 AM
Despite the recent blog post last night which states that this problem is fixed, we were able to EASILY reproduce it this morning by laying down 25 wooden boxes, and 5 of the 25 remained as ghost prims and never reappeared in inventory after tryig to take them. That's a failure rate of 20% during an off-peak time. This bug is a serious issue, a commerce killer. You really need to treat this as a very serious bug and find the problem and fix it. Consumer confidence is falling like a brick out there.

Exactly the same thing has been happening to me ever since Tuesday, both in versions 1.16 and 1.17.

Somehow, the ghost prims I ended up creating on my land (a chair, a table and a wall segment on Coco Beach North) all disappeared after 12 hours, but the objects themselves were most assuredly lost, making this a serious issue that prevents anything from building to decorating. I'm not taking any chances until this issue is resolved.

This morning, I observed the same thing three times in a row in different Sandbox sims. Twice with objects I had just built for the sole purpose of recreating the incident with ghost prims, once with a copy of an object from my inventory. Both deleting and taking back the objects resulted in creating ghost prims without the objects showing up in my inventory.

The bug seems to be everywhere and highly unpredictable.

Merlyn Beaumont added a comment - 14/Jun/07 09:38 AM
The issue is not resolved as stated in the blog. I created a an object and tried to delete it about eight hours after the blogpost was made. It then turned to ghost state and is in it since then.

The exact location of the object is Nico Island (42, 70, 53).

The first time the Prim problem occured to me it was a relatively fresh problem. It happened to me a week ago or so as can be seen earlier in this post. On that night i returned all objects from my land in a try to fix the problem. Since then my land is empty and i feel i cant start building there till this problem is finished.

That means that at least one but probably two projects we had planned to start with from midth june must be postponed. Besides the anger ,sadness and frustration its costing a lot of money on a daily basis.

So Lindens... you want to be a company,.. in that case start acting like one otherwise you will loose paying customers soon.

Since you got/get major attention in the european and international Media your number of residents grew from 2.000.000 in january to an astonishing 7,225,000

As quick as you came up.. you can also go down. Media can make you, Media can break you.

If you don't fix this problem that last thing mentioned will happen soon!

This is getting rediculous. I have lost inventory worth several thousand Linden$ by simply rezzing it i my property, and it will not come back,. i cand see it there, but '"take" does not work on the object. It will not return to owner, as it is non my rental property. when selecting it for edit, i see that it has lost its name and description in the general tab. i believe this may be the reason it can not be taken ???

this has never happened before the last updated version on June 13. Now I can't even replace it because the seller has warned that this problem still exists, despite blog notices to the contrary. I would assume the Vendor knows if his customers are losing their items they just purchased. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED BEFORE FIDDLING WITH ANY OTHER UPDATES.

After the chat was open, i adjustet "autoreturn" on our (group owned by my hun and me) parcel. A message appears, that items were given back to our iventory in the lost&found. We wondered, why our items are given return... But than we look, and nothing is in our lost&found. The items are away, but lost. Furniture (expensive), interiour, plants, the 5 doors of our house, poseballs (not free ones) lost. We clear cache, the simowner startet the sim new, nothing.... We wait a day, perhabs than the items are given back, nothing.

Today i want to build our private hedge around the parcel new, i can't delete the rezzed object. My hun build a primobject and it is a ghostprim. Whatever we do, all is a mess

Please solve the bucks quick

Hi, I am also having this problem, and I think that I can confirm the relationship with the asset server. Ever since I started to build here, I have been experiencing troubles saving my scripts with an error message saying something like "asset request failed, try again later". And recently, the ghost prims are becoming very frequent. At this time I can not continue to build as there are ghosts in the way.

I will ask for in-game assistance and a restart when I have confirmed that we have backup copies of all objects.

Also I submitted a bug report, and a support ticket, I am most disappointed in that nobody has contacted me...I pay a lot of money for my sim...and I can not get any real feedback. I will be shocked if Linden does not compensate us for all are troubles. Many of us, including me have lost many hours worth of work and value, but to expect us to pay on top of this is ridicules.

This is still an acknowledged problem in 1.17, I saw it just yesterday too – it's a very important issue for us to fix, and thank-you for your info and votes emphasizing this. Please don't use these comments for ranting or vagueness which we can't follow, it just clutters the useful info we need to be receptive to. Continuing to provide specific places and date/time (in PDT as shown inworld, please) where you saw this does help.

As you see in the description at the top, if it happens to you, please continue to try to provide reliable reproductions – in other words, how you can make this problem happen step-by-step. If you can make SVC-242 happen for yourself and for others 100% of the time, be sure to say so. I see some partial repros – thanks! – and I've let our devs know.

Thanks for your patience and helping us help you, as we do want to resolve this ASAP.

We also have some Residents reporting ghosted prims reappearing at a region's southwest corner, something which seems to be related to SVC-306, at least in some cases. Example from one Resident:

any updates on these "ghosted" prims that are popping up
keep "banging" onto them lol
and when u bumped onto them, u can goto 0,0,0 , usually will find the actual one there

Also read what Dumisani Ah writes @ https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-306#action_16885

This sound familiar to any of you who've already commented or others reading this?

Walked to 0,0,0
Switched to the mode to look into the floor: ALT+CTRL+SHIFT+5
Zoomed down to 0 with the camera.
Saw some prims I lost or what looked GHOST to me
Right click and "Take"
Object goes back to inventory

Walked back to the Ghost prim in world. Ghost prim still there, Prim count still up.

But at least I have "some" objects back.

The GHOST prims I lost prior to the sim objects where NOT found. Gone

Torley,

Yes, it all sounds familiar. My partner owns a parcel at Koh Terutao 0, 0, 0. We've lost items and we've had others' lost items land at 0, 0, 0 and take up prims. Yesterday, there was a large tree at 0, 0, 0, with about half of it underwater and several meters of it above the water line. My partner, however, couldn't see it, so I took a snapshot and sent it to her.

This is the third time one of us could see ghosted prims and the other could not. One time, I attempted to take the object. Another time, I simply MOVED an object approximately 1 meter; my partner said it vanished – I could see it, but no longer move it. It has now been lost, like our other ghosted objects this week.

I have never experienced this bug before this week.

Aylissa Babii added a comment - 15/Jun/07 01:39 PM
There seems to be no 100% reliable way to reproduce this issue. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.

I experimented in several sandboxes yesterday, creating a platform of about 20 cubes. I alternated between taking and deleting them, slowly and then rapidly and then slowly again, but the appearance of ghost prims seemed entirely random. The first time, 3 out of 20 cubes stayed in-world with no name and no owner, the second time it was 2 out of 20, the third time it was 3 out of 20 again.

Things seem to have gotten better today, though.

The objects appearing at 0,0,0 may be related, but I do know I've seen that happen at least two weeks before I encountered my first ghost prims. More accurately, these objects appear even below 0,0,0... i.e. below the sim. Whenever I've seen objects down there, a relog always cleared them (and others usually couldn't see them at all).

Matthew Dowd added a comment - 15/Jun/07 01:56 PM
OK, on the 0,0,0 issue

During the really bad asset server problems on Tuesday, I could stand on the mainland, remove terrain rendering and every sim around me had clutter in the 0,0,0 corner (in one case an avatar seemed to be stuck there too!)

I returned to my own sim to discover a motorbike stuck in 0,0,0 (usual stuff couldn't delete or return it - the odd thing is that although I suspect the original bike was linked, the prims in the corner were all unlinked), I spoke to the owner - she had tried taking it but to her it was still at the point above ground where it had been when she tried to take it (but in a state that she could no longer take or delete it). She couldn't see anything in the 0,0,0 corner. I got her to log out and back in, after which she could see the bike in the corner but not in the original location (although it was taking up prims there etc.)

As regards reproducability - as suggested above by Which Linden this probably occurs when a timeout with the asset server happens which isn't possible for a resident to reproduce. If LL can set up a small test grid where the asset server is hacked to always timeout they may be able to reproduce this on that.

Removing the false implication that this applies to copiable objects only from the summary.

Showing my friend standing on apparent thin air, which is actually the position of a snake in a basket that has become a ghost object, as per my comment - Fledhyris Proudhon

Sim: Insula Inferi Hills 94, 4, 226

Earlier this evening, my partner put up a new holovendor on our shared parcel with some items for sale. I came back to look at it and switched from a one prim holo to a fairly high-prim but still temp on rez item. We had not many prims left in our land allowance at this time. Immediately on rezzing the holo object, an object of mine which was not set to group ownership, was displaced? deleted? and started sending me messages:

[21:57] Can't move object 'Basket Lid' to
{ 95.9131, 5.15348, 226.003 } in region Insula Inferi Hills because the parcel is full.
[21:57] Can't move object 'Snake Coil' to
{ 95.2651, 4.71647, 225.992 } in region Insula Inferi Hills because the parcel is full.
[21:57] Can't move object 'Snake Coil' to
{ 95.1828, 4.48016, 225.941 } in region Insula Inferi Hills because the parcel is full.
[21:57] Can't move object 'Texture Preloader' to
{ 95.2738, 4.90747, 225.78 } in region Insula Inferi Hills because the parcel is full.
[21:57] Can't move object 'Cobra' to
{ 95.177, 4.73743, 225.999 } in region Insula Inferi Hills because the parcel is full.
[21:57] Can't move object 'Cobra Tail' to
{ 95.5765, 4.2289, 225.98 } in region Insula Inferi Hills because the parcel is full.
[21:57] Can't move object 'Cobra Tail' to
{ -0.26, 0.45, 11.4078 } in region Insula Inferi Hills because you are banned from the parcel.

When I went to investigate, the object in question was invisible even to ctrl+alt+t but is clearly still there - a "ghost" prim - because you can climb on top of it (a snake in a basket) as shown by my friend in the picture, apparently standing on thin air, and the prim count on the land has not changed, nor has the object been returned to my inventory.

Prior to this incident, several of us had been building, testing the system, and had come to the conclusion that the ghost prim error had been fixed. Sadly that is not the case, though perhaps only under special circumstances such as this.

I have been relating our experience in SVC306, but Torley advised I do it here again as we definitely managed to reproduce the problem several times in Bishara Island's Munch Bay. This is the background prior to the problem with objects disappearing, ghosting in 0,0,0 and then being basically deleted:
1. The region is popular with surfers as it is a surfing bay on the sim with waves from Heather Goodliffe, interacting with surfboards and windsurfers we supply free of charge for their use. However many bring their own boards too and use them here, or buy them from the local surf shop for L$555 a pop, and most no-cop / no-mod.

2. We have never seen any loss of objects when they go 'off-world' where these objects belong to our group of provided boards. In fact all of them are still found on the island today despite the problems I am reporting here. This is significant, since these boards all belong to me, the owner of the sim, and the creator of the Bishara Island group to which surfers must belong to use the equipment I provide. All these are exactly the same Heather Goodliffe / Sebastian Saramago made boards (and scripts) as those the residents buy or bring along of their own.

3. Several times during Bishara Island's existence, objects have disappeared on us, but again these were plants or possibly accidental auto returns done by some land managers in our group. So we understand the difference between these problems and the error we are reporting on here, i.e. disappearing objects ghosting in 0,0,0 and then being somehow deleted.

4. Since the last three weeks or so we have consistently seen surfboards owned by residents, not the ones provided for free, disappearing. Last week over two days we lost 5 boards and a further two the Wednesday and Thursday. All of these happened as follows - surfer will get on and surf, board will somehow become separated from them (maybe during dismount from it or releasing controls by mistake) and then get 'stuck' in the land for a moment. On checking scripts in Region / Estate tool, the beacon even shows where the board 'is', but it will be gone in seconds whilst still showing up in the Top Scripts tool.

5. Using Top Scripts to try and return the object has no effect at all. It remains there and does not return to its owner.

6. On checking 0,0,0 I will see them all, each one, and in trying to return them by right clicking the 'ghost' I will cause two things to happen:
6.1 The object return causes the SIM to crash immediately, and
6.2 The object itself may be gone from 0,0,0 or remain there for a few days (2 at most) before completely disappearing.

7. I have been bankrolling the losses with surfers for the best part of the week, but finally asked that they use our equipment instead. Most have done so or left to try other spots, a sad implication for us as they no longer trust the sim or me in fact - excuses run thin when their L$555 keeps disappearing.

8. One regular asked Gnash Rambler, a co-sim owner and more experienced than me, to come over and try and 'find' her board. He and I worked on the above points to try and 'return' it, restarted the sim several times, with no effect. He then put down his own board, to try and emulate what happened, and lost it promptly again with none of the usual ways to return it working, again with the 'ghost' object clearly seen at 0,0,0 before going missing permanently.

Some points for further info - none of the above objects have ever just popped back since going missing. All were owned by residents, not by the Bishara group or myself. The region 'lost' objects with auto return switched and with auto return switched off.

So we've closed the region where most of the problems occur, Munch Bay, just off 0,0,0, for resident owned equipment, and am patiently waiting on a solution to come rising out of 0,0,0 - or maybe we will just keep this mysterious region on our sim and redub it Bermuda's Triangle

Anyway, I hope this helps and anyone is welcome to pop by and try out simulating the problem. We have not yet tried again mainly due to the cost of losses so far.

I haven't had this problem for nearly two days now (even though I have only rezzed a few things because I was scared to do so), but it has just happened again, a few minutes ago.

This time at my other land at Ivar - with two objects, a 3 prim object and a 1 prim object.

After trying to delete the objects (seperately) they were still visible to me, but I could no longer take or delete them, the old story. I could delete or take the same objects earlier tonight though.

I then tried to move them and I could do that.Unfortunaltely I moved them a bit too far (to my neighbours parcel) and I could not move them back after I had left edit mode.

Her parcel now has 4 prims "owned by others", not the selected/sat upon listing, that usually appears after it happens. Those hadn't been there before.

I could still see my items but could no longer do anything to them. I used TP to another place then (within the same sim), and when I came back a little later my objects were no longer visible to me, but my neighbours land info still shows the extra prims, so no autoreturn or so (turned off at her parcel anyway). I had not logged off, just to make that clear.

I had a look at 0.0.0. but there was nothing (apart from 2 avatars that seem to be sort of stuck there?)

So this problem still exists. I'm sorry for my neighbour who now has 4 invisible prims on her parcel, luckily there are still quite a few left and it has happend at 250 up in the sky, so I hope she won't need them atm and doesn't bump into them, and I hope they will be gone after the next sim restart.

I should get some custom work done and since I don't like sandboxes I usually do that at my own land, but I'm really scared to do so atm, because I just don't know if I'll be left with a lot of ghost prims afterwards, so like everyone else hoping for a quick fix

miles beck added a comment - 19/Jun/07 04:18 PM
After several days of not experiencing the problem, it struck again. This time, I had successfully taken 21 pieces of a house I needed to re-rez. After transferring about half of them from my inventory to the rezzer box, one piece failed to be transferred and it disappeared from my inventory. I waited for several minutes, then recieved the following message: "Inventory creation on in-world object failed." We had no ghost prims before I stared; after this happened, I checked About Land and we once again have "selected/sat upon" prims.

This isn't the place to rant, so I won't. But I'd be remiss if I didn't mention how frustrating it is that this issue hasn't been updated in Second Life's blog for five days.

We believe we've fixed this critical issue internally. We've not been able to reproduce it after the fix was applied.

Watch for this in a public release ASAP.

Zebedee Beery added a comment - 22/Jun/07 08:26 PM
Does the fix actually remove these 'ghost' objects, or merely prevent the recurrence of creating them?

Torley Linden added a comment - 28/Jun/07 03:12 PM
Fix now live, following a rolling restart. For more info, please see: http://blog.secondlife.com/2007/06/28/rolling-restart-starting-1045-pst/

@Zebedee: The ghost objects should be gone because every region was restarted.

Definitely still a problem. We have a ghost prim in BigStar right in front of our club. Can stand on it, run into it, but it doesn't select or show up under show invisible. Just....gets in the way.

Also waiting for a solution. We cannot go further in creating our company inside SL with this, as the primitives got stuck in the way.

this is the third time in a month that I have encountered this. My experience is very much as all the prior posters who made an object, tried to take that object, then failing that tried to delete said object, and foundthemselves with an invisible nuissance.

As it stands, I have a wall running the entire length of my property which makes work difficult.

I hear about it often, but it seems to go quite underreported.

I am also having this problem. I bought land for the purpose of building, and it seems to show up about every second time I save to inventory. Witin just a couple of days the project of trying to build has become nigh impossible. This URGENTLY needs fixed. I cannot trust even to take versions of something in case more prim sets are left ghosted on land and added to prim count

Sim is Yeol.

Lightshaper Merlin added a comment - 06/Aug/07 05:06 PM
Here I am not hovering. I am standing on one of over 20 invisible prims that seem to happen with a lottery of about 50% each time I try to save to inventory. It has left invisble walls and floors in various places around my 2048 parcel.

gil druart added a comment - 07/Aug/07 02:49 AM
I can't be entirely certain (how the hell do I tell one invisible, unselectable prim from another?) .. but this seem to be related to the previous inventory eater, at least in behaviour.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Park/239/178/405

I have invisible prims here that I believe are lost inventory from a failed attempt to rez a no-copy object a week ago.

I'm not aware of having a failed 'Take' at this position, but I did have a failed rez there about eight days back. Can't think of anything else it could be.

though I've had plenty elsewhere grrrr .. what am I paying Tier for! I can't rez any of my current builds anymore thanks to 'missing prims' in my primcount.

On 05/08/07 at location SINNIQ SIM 01, approx 75,117,23.

I constructed a small build consisting of 10 cubes prims and one cube prim of 'Splashable Water 1.6', during the build I deleted one cube, it did not delete but remained in world. Selected 'deleted' cube and moved it away from main object build. Linked all remaining cube prims, 11 in total and selected take, object vanished as would be expected but did not appear in inventory.

All cube prims called 'object' except 'Splashable Water 1.6', linked object named 'object'.

All prims full permissions, copy, mod and trans. Build was on self owned land, with correct group title selected.

Previously, SIM had been buggy as hell, inventory took over 2 hours to load. Also intermittent problems with not being able to arrive at my home starting point, although allowed to land next door (which is an entirely different problem).

After reloggin the deleted prim was gone, however, I have one Selected / sat upon object now, which is an invisible. After 24 hours lost object still not appeared.

[UPDATE] Milo and Andrew Linden have been investigating this – and this particular bug (which occurred when the sim couldn't contact the asset server) is indeed fixed, but there's a similar one which internally is SL-50985, "periodic failure to rez, attach, and delete in some regions". I'll create a new issue for it and link to it from here...

SEE SVC-516

We'll continue to dig into that. Thanks for your info.

It is also happening on one of our rental plots in Yongwang. We have two invisible but physical prims on one lot...one is up in air at 231,85,45-51. The other seems to be on ground such that on parts of same plot you walk a meter up in the air. We had to move our renters to another plot and remove the house, etc., in an attempt to get rid of the problem...didnt work. 18 'ghost" prims cannot be returned or selected, etc. Obviously, this is costing us money in loss of rental income.

Could someone please contact me or Travis Jeffries with a timeframe for resolution? Thank you very much for your help.

This problem is still happening, and it's occuring with no-copy items! Over the past week in Reignier we have lost a dozen objects due to this bug, some of them very expensive.

Prims are invisible and cannot be selected after being "taken" or "deleted." They do not reappear in the inventory. They are lost in-world and inaccessible.

Even stranger, they are visible to one or more persons until they relog. Then the items go invisible and inaccessible, as they are to everyone else.

This problem needs to be FIXED. A server-restart might remove the prims, but it does not give back the inventory!

Torley Linden added a comment - 02/Oct/07 12:17 PM
I've run across several stray cases of "invisible objects" inworld which were fixed after a region restart. I haven't been able to confirm that they resulted in content loss (the owners didn't notice anything missing) and are the same problem as this.

@Sheva: I believe Aura Linden's IMed you to investigate further. We really hope to squash this bug for good.

This appears to still be an issue as of 2/15/08. I recently purchased land and had 0 prims of my own on it (a few prims from my neighbor who hadn't moved them to her side of the property line yet). I built a small house in a sandbox and put it in my inventory. While on my land, I rezzed the house randomly in the middle of my land to show a friend. When we were finished, I attempted to Delete it twice and Take it once, none of which worked, but I could still rotate it. I left it and logged off for the night. When I returned, the house was gone but still a physical object in the world (can bump into it, walk on top of it) and I'm unable to select it.

I opened the "About Land" menu and the Objects tab to reveal 11 prims "Owned by Parcel Owner". I did not have any objects on the ground yet. I clicked "Return" and the blue notice menu informed me that my objects had been returned to inventory. However the 11 prims under parcel owner didn't go to zero. I closed the menu and reopened it to refresh the data and it still showed 11 prims. Highlight Transparent didn't reveal anything.

On this day, Second Life appeared to be experiencing a lot of difficulties with many things and I had trouble with many aspects like deleting, flying, gestures, and all sorts of things, so I didn't think too much of not being able to delete the house. As of 2/15/08, the invisible house has been on my land for 4 days. I have not had any similar trouble on this parcel since nor with the same object rezzed anywhere else. Several other residents of my island have had this happen to them in the past and it seemed to vanish after a few days. I'm hesitant to build anything in the region of the "house" and it appears that the scheduled maintenance did not resolve the issue either.

I'm unable to duplicate this issue. It is exactly the same issue as all others listed above EXCEPT it is not limited to "no copy" objects. I don't know how else to report this or what else to do. Please help or advise!

In my experience, this problem is primarily due to the user being logged into SL on a connection with low bandwidth or with high packet losses. A sim restart clears the phantom prims out of the sim. Users should work with their ISPs to ensure their connections are of high quality.

High packet losses frequently happen after being more than 12 hours online with an ISP that does dynamic IP addressing, the IP address leak expires and the connection winds up experiencing a lot of collision based packet losses due to conflicts with the new assignee of that IP address.
