Linden Lab Issue ID: DEV-22277

 Description  « Hide
When you recieve an IM and are not online you have the ability to redirect these to email. In the real world if such an email is replied to the response normally is sent back into world as an IM.

Since the 1.16.0 update this has been broken. While you can still recieve IM's from residents replying to them does not generate an IM, the message is lost in a black hole.

This happened in the 1.15 release as well, all replies were lost when that problem (stated to be processing of bad headers on the blog) was fixed.

Blocker as I am unable to talk with people from the real world, my game has stopped.

This is working properly for me. Tested in-world, and IM sent to me while offline were received in my email. I replied to the email and the reply was received in-world via IM.

Jayden, please reopen with steps to reproduce if you are still having problems.

Tested email replies to offline IM's from a variety of internal and external mail providers. Replies were received to the destination targets IM queue irrespective of whether the recipent was on or offline . It is possible that the bounced email above was received as a result of the session having expired.

Should you be able to provide a solid repro, please feel free to reopen the jira task. Thanks!

I have reopened this issue and added comments from

SVC-44 Timo Gufler - 07/Oct/08 11:43 PM
Since Soft Linden was able to reproduce this the status shouldn't be "Cannot Reproduce". I was able to reproduce this too about two weeks ago.

I'm running WIndows Vista Ultimate on a Dell Inspiron. My IM's are forwarded to a gmail account where I am attempting my replies.
For at least the last several days, none of the offline IM replies that I send from my Google gmail account are being delivered. I rely heavily on being able to reply to my customers via emails on my cell phone when they send me IM's when I am not in-game. Not being able to reply to my clients in a timely fashion is causing a number of unhappy customers. I do verify that when I use my Blackberry, that I can see my replies on a PC web-browser by viewing the Sent Items folder. Any help you could provide in resolving this issue as quickly as possible is greatly appreciated! Thank you.

I am having the same problem as are all of my friends. I use Gmail as well but tested a Yahoo email account and had the same problem.
Also started a few days ago.

SVC-3434 Hugh Helendale - 18/Nov/08 09:48 PM
Same problem for me too (on Gmail).

I am still having issues with this as well, even though I was told it was resolved some weeks ago. Whatever.

Interestingly this started working for me about the same time as LL was having network problems.

Eyal Laryukov added a comment - 23/Jul/09 11:22 PM
I too have this problem (My e-mail is from Walla.co.il) I feel that my mail server is blocked (as it's a free, web based mail account, like Gmail, yahoo, and hotmail). Is there an easy, simple way to test if this is so? I feel that EVERY mail I send to the sl team (not just to the second life in-world items) is getting blocked.

hope this gets resolved soon (as it has NEVER worked for me before, at all).

I have issues with replying to an offline avatar also since 2 weeks now,
when the other avatar is online my replies to him/her are ok, within a few minutes usual,
when he/she is offline, the messages doesnt arrive in their IM at login, nor to their email account.
The message are also not delivered back, as with the unicode issue. They just disappear.
Help!
