Description

« Hide

Sending postcard with no message (just focus there) slows down the simulator.
The slowness continues for a few minutes.
In the Statistics-Bar, TimeDilation/SimFPS/PhysicsFPS are reduced.
But TotalFrameTime(and other Times value) does not rise.

to repro:
1. Take snapshot, and select "send" to open SendPostcard dialog.
2. Fill out the Recipient and Subject.
3. Click the Message area. Leave the box empty. Don't write there.
4. Click "Send" to send the postcard.
5. Error dialog is displayed after a while.
6. Simulator slows down.

Currently 100% repro when I try.

Torley Linden notes: Repro for me is to simply send a postcard, it can have text in it!

I get that "Unable to upload..." error dialog EVERY single time I send a postcard (seems to happen in all regions I tested with including Grasmere) from, even if the message is filled. REPROED. In any case, I'll import it for our devs to investigate – thanks for reporting this!

I can reproduce it too.

I've had this error since late Feb 2008. maybe server process has changed.
Simulator becomes slow when I send the next postcard till the error dialog is displayed.
Script time and Images time takes more than 30ms.

repro too.

And the priority of this problem is VERY HIGH, because anyone can slow SIMs without any permissions or conditions.
It's a significant security problem.

After a fair amount of investigation, we were unable to replicate this error after server software upgrade. We did further instrument the postcard code, so if the behavior returns we will have much better logs to help correlate this behavior with other system properties and events.

Please reopen this issue if this behavior returns (rather than opening a new issue.) -thx

I too have this problem, such that I out of reflex go to the message and put a space in there so as to not get the error. Don't know about the slowing the SIM performance part, but the error message is annoying.

Still exists on 1.25.4 server! X-(
