 Description  « Hide
My home region (Camlann Tarl) and my new store's region (Tarner) were recently updated to the server version 1.21.0.85745 as part of the mass roll-out. However, both regions used to exhibit excellent performance, Tarner especially had stable frame-rates of 45 fps, and total frame-time of 5ms, the region is after all still mostly for sale!

However, ever since the update frame-time has been spiking between 10ms and 25ms, causing the frame-rate to be erratic and physics performance to be extremely poor. The bulk of frame-time is spent on physics which fluctuates randomly (even with only a single avatar in the sim standing idle) and performs erratically.

I read about a new feature added to try and improve performance of objects crossing prim boundaries (e.g two touching prims such as a road or floor) by adding buffering and averages to all object collisions, could it be that? As it's not the most efficient sounding solution.

I was very pleased with Havok 4's performance increase, but this rollout has caused a massive dive, and a once smooth-as-silk region is now struggling. My home region as well never performed especially badly, scripts were throttled due to the number but physics always ran fairly smoothly until the update, now they are dreadful.

Nothing in Tarner seems to be at fault. That is; I was in the region when it (without warning) was taken down for the update, and it was running nice and smoothly (45 fps, 5ms frame-time etc.). However, when it came back after 10 minutes of me thinking "what the hell happened, is the land I just bought still mine?!" it came back with the new simulator version and worse performance.

Also; there is no 1.21 server version for the JIRA.

In my sim with just myself and zero physical objects, I've found since 1.20 that my physics statistics vary wildly, and cause my total frame time to jump to 50-60ms at times. My physics step values tend to shoot between 3-40ms, although they usually hover around 15-20ms. All other values aside from physics are 0.something except script time, which is around 12. All these values are consistent with just one or two avatars in the sim, and the lag is definitely palpable.

I rent an openspace sim. Since the 1.21 update, I also have noticed performance issues - something as simple as flying across the region (with mystitool flight assist turned on) can knock sim FPS down to the low teens. Taking a flying tako for a sail gives a similar result.

I don't have estate manager rights, so can't check for running scripts, but since I rent the whole sim and have very few active scripts running, I think it is unlikely to be any runaways - I will check with the sim owner however.

I'm seeing this problem also in Abbotts: wild fluctuations in time dilation, sim FPS, and physics FPS for no apparent reason. This continues even with no avatars (except mine) and no physical objects. These stats drop to (sometimes) half what they should be at least a couple of times per minute.

This issue needs immediate attention, since it interferes with normal use of the sim. Even walking becomes a chore, let alone using vehicles.

Hi Haravikk, is this still a problem for you?

Oh, no it isn't, it must have been fixed a while ago! I'm terrible when it comes to closing off my old redundant issues =S
