Please provide your computer environment (computer specs). Most likely you can't "land" because there is an object (the person) below you. This happens regularly when I TP to a location and people have not moved from the landing point. the next time it happens, try moving to the left or right to a place where no one is standing and you should be able to land normally.
My original description clearly states "if I fly up and fall back down onto the head of the other avatar again, I will become stuck in place with falling animation and unable to move". There are no obstructions between my falling avatar and the avatar's head below me.
I would be very happy to demonstrate the issue inworld. I will be inworld for the next few hours. Though I feel my computer's specifications are irrelevant, I have been proven wrong several times. CPU: Intel Core 2 Series Processor (2133 MHz) Alexa, ever since Havok4 was released avies can no longer land or jump on other avie's heads without freezing or going into a leg twitch. My group used to pride itself on jumping on peoples heads in mouselook...now when attempting to jump on another avie's heads yer legs fold into a weird twitching position or you freeze in a landing anim and can't move.
Here's an example of precision jumping in old Havok1: http://youtube.com/watch?v=fY5JQ8JJVyg So this is a Havok4 physics bug. When an avie is standing on another avie's head the avie on top either twitches or freezes. Second Life 1.19.1 (4) Apr 2 2008 12:03:24 (Second Life Release) You are at 232168.2, 299561.5, 25.1 in Daichi located at sim7075.agni.lindenlab.com (8.10.144.77:13004) CPU: 8 x i386 (Unknown) (3000 MHz) Switched to 1.20.0 Server Physics cuz this bug didn't manifest til Havok4 was released.
<joke>This should be showstopper as the ancient art of !stand is severely impacted</joke>
This seems related to what Sidewinder calls "BumpLag" where when you hit an object at just the right angle you flip into the falling animation and stay that way until you fly or the sim finally fixes you. It is seen when hugging and stops when the other avatar finally moves (No movement when you come down exactly on top of an avatars head and also when walking up stairs. |
