 Description  « Hide
visible problems:
  • SIM FPS going very low (9 is the lowest value seen so far) , seen in statistics bar
  • avatars experience this as heavy lag, flying and walking in slowmotion.

timeschedule:

  • every few minutes, for a period of a few seconds to some minutes

other remarks:

  • slowdowns never occured with pre-havok4 simulator versions.
  • slow downs noticed on a wide scale of sims (manager of 47 very low traffic residential sims)
  • occures on both openspaces and normal sims.
  • content on some sims is identical compared to before havok4 release.
  • still occured with collisions/scripts disabled simwide (debug).

This is a better description of the problem I have been having since the rollout of Havok 4. Sidewinder Linden has seen this behavior himself, and tried to convince one of my residents that it was a problem with one of our objects or maybe an object on another region sharing the same core..as this is an openspace region problem. I can state now that this is not the case. All items were removed from my old openspace region, Achilles Island, and the behavior did not change at all. It does seem to have some bearing on how well a given server is behaving, as it has been better and worse on different servers. I looked at 2 other openspace regions..both on different servers from Achilles Island, and both exibited the same behavior to greater or lesser degrees, and I have moved to a lesser degree one. No..it is not something I am wearing, as it happens no matter who is in the region monitoring, and I have never been to the region mentioned above. I think this is also reported many other times under slightly different wording. This is the best description I have seen to date though.

I had the same thing happen just after created an OS Sim. Belinda Linden asked me if I had a rezzer on the sim, as "Sionnach" was getting scripting spikes. I wasn't sure how, there was nothing there yet. except me. I logged in with an unscripted alt just to verify that I wasn't the culprit, non-the-less the symptoms remain. Needless to say I would like to leave it empty, but after 3 days and no contact from the Lindens after putting in a ticket for performance issues, I decided what the hey, might as well try to get some work done. Heck I have been in far worse situations.

Does it get better, or does it persist? If it persists, can you point to some sims where it's happening?
