Linden Lab Issue ID: DEV-11331

 Description  « Hide
My product sLwim attachments, is haveing severe mis-behavior in the last version of havok4. Considering that I have thousands of users this will totally be a mess. The issue must be related to avatars physics and impulses. I please ask you once again to try them out, you can find in world at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Arias%20Requiem/41/217/307 . I cannot deal with it as its totally an abyss between havok1 and I cannot auto-update all the users. If you ignore me all my work will be wasted.

Can you give some details as to what's not working the way it should?

Aria Alexandria added a comment - 27/Feb/08 10:48 AM
Not easy to give details as totally the avatar is stuck, not moving, so basically all my calls to llApplyImpulse to simulate water grip in a llSetBuoyancy(1.0) are behaving wrong.

kelly linden added a comment - 03/Mar/08 01:51 PM
Those would be good details Aria, as opposed to the original report of "it is totally broken" from your comment it is:
  • The avatar is stuck and doesn't move
  • Calls to llApplyImpulse aren't working right, possible connection with llSetBuoyancy

Aria Alexandria added a comment - 03/Mar/08 02:03 PM
Yes but I really can't be sure where the issue is , that's why I didn't want to try and make ideas on it. As would be much easier if you try out yourselves.
Also I have a new version I'm holding to release which I could deliver to some linden which has different behavior.. but just noone IMed me back and such.
It's depressing cos it's my work!

kelly linden added a comment - 07/Mar/08 07:30 PM
I have been looking into this. I could really use some help narrowing down the broken behavior.
  • If you have a new product drop it on me.
        • Please give me as specific of details about what it should do and what it does. It really helps to have exact steps! What to attach and what to do as specific as possible! ***
I ran into problems using the version I have on havok1 regions which makes it really hard to 'fix' what is newly broken in havok4.
  • If possible what would make this the easiest to fix is a really, really simple object - as simple as possible with as simple of a script as possible - that shows the bug. Do I need the Animation Overrider in the flippers to see the bug? Do I need the updating scripts? Do I need a specific size / shape / number of prims attachment(s)? In the main script any thing that can be culled without stopping the bug from showing etc. I know it isn't easy, but every little bit really helps to find the bug and the real cause faster. Right now a whole lot of things happen all the time with the swim set I have and it gets hard to tell what behavior is and isn't a bug especially with .......
  • Really, a repro with steps, it helps sooooooooo much.

Escort DeFarge added a comment - 08/Mar/08 12:47 AM
I too have similar issues with llApplyImpulse if used in the context of vehicles. Essentially it doesn't appear to work at all (i've used this technique, literally, for years without problems).

I haven't posted this prior to now as I've not had the time to allocate to do the work necessary to provide a repro for you, but I would point out that there seems to be a genuine issue with llApplyImpulse.

Hmm, just try my sLwim attachments in havok 1 and than in havok 4, the difference is an abyss >.<, or just IM me in world to discuss/show, I can't really write too much here for many reasons.

Hello, I have the same problem with my Scuba Diving Items, I only use llSetBuoyancy. I Take Controls Up&Down and when using PgUp & PgDown, i change Buoyancy, with an attachment "Physic".

IMPORTANT CLUE MAY BE : But when in water, the diver CANT MOVE forwrd or backward, HE CAN ONLY move if he is on the ground (bottom of the sea). (Hope i am clear.. I am french..). And i have also undreds of divers using my stuff.. I have the chance to have set an AutoUpdate system, but I think that we all use "normal" script funcions that shouldnt be affected.

@2 Aria: Have faith! That bug was being worked on today, and is close to resolution. The fix for it should be in our next deploy /Sidewinder

Copied that from a month ago.. um it's still not fixed on any version she has offered.. 2.1, 2.5 or 2.6. she is doing her best to fix. but yal are not.. one of the best things in SL is swimming.. lordy knows we have more water than land... how about re lookin into this?

What would yall do if all of the sudden we couldnt fly?

ALL versions of her product are bobbing up n down.. as if the avatar is being PUSHED down by force.. it can float the avatar back up only to be forced back down again.. makes one look as if they are bobbin for apples It only cost 200L.. surely one of yall have put it on and tried to see what it does?

Hope to see this fixed ASAP.. or can SOMEONE out there make something that we can swim with? (btw the swimmer 1.1 dont work stil either. I have both of these )

*NOTE* I guess I should edit this.. it's not the 'beta' version of havok 4.. its what yall have just rolled out all over the grid!!! It was working last week .. somewhat

Could be related to https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-2014 and severe dampening of applied force on objects while the avatar is flying/floating. I have SLwim-2.1 myself and just tested it inside
Second Life Server 1.20.0.83892 even while in normal swim mode, or even 'allways run' Im swimming very very slow.

Verified with slwim 2.1 and as well with the scuba kit from splash aquatics.

Thanks for the support. Yep almost all my products are broken really thanks to LL Dash to release... and between busy RL and the fact that I have no idea if they gunna try bother and fix or not, I feel like throwing all away really.

**DONT THROW AWAY YOUR PRODUCTS!! IMORTANT UPDATE***
Posted in Blogs:

Second Life Simulator v1.21.0.85362 Update is on the Beta Preview with 12 Physics Fixes (2008-04-19)

This version includes fixes for many important issues, including what we hope is a resolution for the llTargetOmega (spinning things stop spontaneously and don't start again) problem.

Other fixes mentioned:

SVC-1951: llGroundRepel is now effective over water (parameter limits adjusted to allow negative limits for use with water)

DEV-11326: After some time, in some cases, physics scripts become inactive. This issue, reported by a handful of people, has now been traced to be linked to the llTargetOmega problem, and is believed resolved by that fix.

Which all I believe had something to do with the sLwim.. thus I went to go testing

Happy to inform the sLwim version 2.5 and 2.6 now WORKS on SL Server 1.21.0.85362 (Beta Grid). Only the sLwim 2.1 is still the same (slow moving).. and WaterWorks 'The Swimmer! 1.1' still does not function properly. (I liked the sLwim better anyway) so KUDOS!! And much thanks from a advid swimmer on SL.. now GET IT ON THE MAIN GRID ASAP!!!
