It doesn't even have to be a large offset. Anything > 20m will cause your llDialog-using attachment to fail.
llSensor was fixed to detect agents at the av pos, not the the seated prim. This issue should be fixed in a manner consistent with that fix. @Clarknova, agree. Re-opening the issue for more discussion and actual resolution.
This seems to have just changed with 1.19.0 (server) that the attachments do hear ok now when offset (tested at offset of 110m). prior to 1.19.0 they didn't. (ok further testing on this is not consitent, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't)
If you attach the listening object after you sit on the offset object it will hear you.
The workaround has always been to take it off and put it on after sitting. It is interesting to note that the responce from llDialog does not suffer from this problem. That's because llDialog-responces, while coming from the avatar, have their center at the object that send that llDialog.
Can be repro'd easy enough sit on a large prim, wear any menu driven stuff, example mystitool is a good global one ot test with. Wear it, sit down on a large prim. Hit your mystitool to open the llDialog popup, hit 'Stop Animation' no result...... then remove the mystitool re-wear it while still sitting.... same thing 'anime stop' then it responds.... Tested at 190366.7, 296547.2, 72.8 in Content to Hover located at sim4290.agni.lindenlab.com (63.210.157.194:13011) Second Life Server 1.20.0.83892
