Linden Lab Issue ID: DEV-9556

 Description  « Hide
Reproduction When standing on a sloped part of terrain, the avatar slides very slowly down the slope. It seems to be dependant on the direction the avatar is facing. Facing the slope in a right angle seems to have the highest effect.

Confirmed on a 1:3 gradient. Slip speed can be up to 1M per minute.

Turning off AO so that feet are level with the ground sometimes stops the slide.

Ryu Darragh added a comment - 31/Jan/08 08:28 PM
Landing on a slope is also a good way to repro this. I and my partner landed on a slope of about 30 degrees and slid several meters over a several minute time frame on Eragon where Havoc4 has been deployed. Right off the edge of the land into the lagoon glub

Ryu Darragh added a comment - 31/Jan/08 08:33 PM
Note: Not just the AO or taking a step can halt the slide. I clicked "Help"/"Official Linden BLog" and the change of focus from the screen also stopped my slide.

I have noticed this as well as SIMs where I RP got their physics upgraded within the last two weeks. It happens when standing on linden land or prims. Even when standing on prims at a very shallow angle (< 20 degs from horizontal) this occurs.

Feynt Mistral added a comment - 22/Feb/08 03:34 PM
I can confirm that this also occurs within Serenity Woods, another sim testing Havok 4 right now. Any slopes greater than about 15 degrees will cause the avatar to slide. The more dramatic the slope, the faster the slide. Avatar friction definitely needs to be turned up a bit.

Seems fixed in Havok4 Beta Server 1.19.0.80517

Is not fixed on a Havok4 Beta Server 1.19.0.80517.

I am standing on the dome of a hill...facing upwards and I am sliding down it. Sidewinder I am going to post the link to this on the blog as it now contradicts my last report to you.

Sorries Sidewider, this is a no-fix contrary to the blog entry:

Try standing at: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Wolf%20Valley/76/27/22

for a live repeatable example...

You are at 239692.6, 234778.1, 21.6 in Wolf Valley located at sim210.agni.lindenlab.com (8.4.128.86:13005)
Havok4 Beta Server 1.19.1.81747

Thanks!

Yes, not fixed, ok improved but still there. Stand near a slope and turn AV 180 deg and then back, Do that sometimes and position will move.

Since the Havok4 Beta Server 1.19.3.82980 code was introduced to our region this issue seems to be fixed to an acceptable and realistic level. I am marking it as resolved. Many thanks to all who have supported the efforts to identify and raise it, and to Sidewinder and all who worked on it

Well, it sure as heck ain't fixed for me. Any slope, any Havok 4 sim (which is, as far as I can tell is all of them), I slide down the hill. Or start walking all by itself - whatever. anyway, it is annoying as hell. Is there a fix?

Saskia McLaglen added a comment - 21/May/08 03:26 PM
Gray, H4 is in all regions now, has been since this was marked as resolved.

More information will be needed. Is this happening to just you, or others around you? Have you removed all your attachments and tried testing then? In the earlier days prior to this fix 'some' attachments that used physics functions (llSetBuoyancy was one) created undesired sliding behaviour, it is possible it is still happening for you.

Lately I've been noticing this too - Maybe the reason I haven't noticed before is because I live in relative flat sims, however our new sim with a beach seems to make everyone slide into the water once in a while. Pretty fast too.

It dosen't happen all the time, but sometime everyone slides slowly down into the water. This has been the case the last week or so on the Raglan Galaxy sim, with folded avatars (tinies)

Region: Bakoa
Position: 93, 67

Sliding towards lower points. This islands is almost flat.
It happens at random to all avatars here.
It's very annoying.
Sometimes sitting on ground or prim stops the sliding.

Reproducing is hard, but it happens here more than once over a couple of days already now, and not in other regions we visit.

I'm on Mac, my partner is on Windows.

Seeing this too, an example slope is the one at the Ark in Furnation, if you go to the co-ordinates <142, 128, 605> and stand facing the door (purple curtain) you should notice your avatar slides down the ramp about half-way. Previously ramps like this wouldn't affect an avatar.
