Linden Lab Issue ID: SL-54489

 Description  « Hide
4. Invitations to existing group members get sent, but have no effect
        1. Open Invite Dialog
        2. Choose someone that is already a member
        3. Choose a role for them that is different from the role they are in
        4. Send invitation
        5. Observe that the invitation was sent, but had no effect, and their roles and titles are not changed.

Some users use Invite to change member's roles. As it stands right now they must eject the member first.

2007-09-10 triage discussion:

[15:24] Aric Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-118
[15:25] Aric Linden: Invitations to existing group members get sent, but have no effect
[15:25] Aric Linden: seems as though permissions got a work out last week
[15:25] Bridie Linden: Done, Aric.
[15:25] Aric Linden: Thanks!
[15:25] Aric Linden: 118 seems like a bug to me
[15:26] Ciaran Laval: You don't send a new invitation as far as I'm aware, I think it's the issue where group changes don't update right away
[15:26] Bridie Linden nods
[15:26] Aric Linden: I wonder if the invitee has to respond to the invitation for the change to take place
[15:26] Aric Linden: anyone know?
[15:26] You: This one actually has some effect; you can add someone to another role this way. But it's pointless to have the dialog, it should just automatically make the appropriate role additions. Not much reason to decline a new role for a group you're already in.
[15:27] Daedalus Young: but then I think the invitee never gets the invite, because they're already member
[15:27] Sculpt TorusKnot Ollj: Hello, Avatar!
[15:27] Ciaran Laval: I've never sent an invite again when I've changed a person's role.
[15:27] Squirrel Wood: the invitee should at least get some form of confirmation too.. like "You have been assigned to a different role (role here, another role here)"
[15:28] Aric Linden: hmm
[15:28] Aric Linden: this seems like a job for RX
[15:28] You: If it only adds roles, not removes, is a notification still needed?
[15:28] Aric Linden: shrugs
[15:28] Daedalus Young: how else would you know you've been promoted?
[15:28] You: Ya, RX sounds like a good idea.
[15:28] Squirrel Wood: the lucky player may not know about it ?
[15:28] Ciaran Laval: The group owner should tell you
[15:28] Sculpt TorusKnot Ollj: Hello, Avatar!
[15:28] Aric Linden: Let's make RX sort it all out
[15:28] Saijanai Kuhn: blob private
[15:28] Ciaran Laval: However as a feature request it might be a good thing for group security
[15:28] Daedalus Young: yes, but some people just don't communicate enough like that
[15:29] Bridie Linden: But it's a bug if your role didn't actually change, right?
[15:29] Aric Linden: Well, it is if the intent is to allow for roles to update via that manner
[15:29] Bridie Linden: Ah...
[15:29] Aric Linden: I can't tell if that's the intent or if the implied functionality is a UI by-product of some sort
[15:29] You: I'll add the last couple dozen lines to a comment.
[15:29] Daedalus Young: otherwise you shouldn't be able to re-invitye anyway
[15:29] Bridie Linden: I'll import.
[15:30] Ciaran Laval: Would it be a bug not to receive an invite for a group you're already in or would thta be working as intended?
