I have had about four occasions now (2 within the last month) where I have found myself on someone elses mute list for no apparent reason. I have only found this out when the user buys an item from one of my vendors but never receives it. They then contact me about it, but when I try to contact them they don't recieve my IM's and the item when sent is declined. The only way around this is to contact them via one of their friends or via my alt account. In the most recent case the other user was able to find my name on the mute list and unmute it, which enabled me to contact and send them items normally with my main account.

At current I do not know how this bug can be reproduced as it seems to happen randomly.

I'm very sure this is not a bug. IT happens frequently to me, too. It's caused by people clicking mute in the dialog box on things like notecard givers.

Try putting up a sign warning people not to click mute.

Well I'm fairly sure this is a bug! I don't have any automated notcard givers that anyone would have muted. I do have some note card givers which will only give out when clicked, so I don't see why they would deliberately mute them. Also the last person it happened with didn't know how it had happened either, as they had not knowingly muted me, but some how I'd ended up on their list.

Notecard givers was just an example, they could be accidently muting you a number of ways, networked vendors when you buy an item have the mute button, information notecards when you touch the vendor have a mute button. There are several JIRA issues about this because it happens so often (VWR-2033 and VWR-4185 in particular). And VWR-1735 is a new feature request to unmute a resident when you interact with them.

True. I hadn't realised it was such a common problem, thanks for pointing out the feature request and other issue reports Harleen, I hadn't spotted them.
