When a result of new search (ALL) contained a resident, and his/her profile contained non ASCII characters, both the summary of the profile and hit details page may not show those non ASCII characters properly.
REPRODUCTION STEPS AND OBSERVED BEHAVIOUR
(1) Start the viewer and login.
(2) Enter "chiyo linden" on the search box at the upper right corner of the viewer window, then click on the magnifying glass icon next to the search box.
(3) The search floater pops up and shows several hits. One of the hit should be Chiyo Linden's profile. (Listed as the fourth entry in the attached screen shot chiyo-0.png.)
(4) The initial part of the summary of her profile reads "日本語専門リエゾン。よー。" while it should really be "日本語専門のリエゾンです。よろしくどーぞ。". Note that "の", "です", "ろしくど", and "ぞ" are missing.
(5) Next, click on the fourth entry "Chiyo Linden" to show details. You will see a lot of "?" on her profile. (See attached screen shot chiyo-1.png)
(6) Also note that her "PICS" is shown strangely.
(7) Then, click on the "View Full profile" button. Her profile is shown correctly this time. (See chiyo-2.png.)
- Note that the attached screenshot was taken under a different process than the above. However, the process described here should expose essentially the same result.
EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR
Profiles are shown correctly always.
SOME ANALYSIS
This is a different issue than SVC-1020. SVC-1020 is on the search key words, and this issue is on the search results.
It appears that the HTTP response is broken when the problem occured. So, I believe this is a server issue.
I have not yet found any rule regarding under which condition a character disappears or turns into (possibly multiple) '?'s.
I don't know whether this issue only occures on Japanese characters or occures on any non ASCII characters.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I appreciate Chiyo Linden for allowing me to use her profile as an example. New search does not reflect profile update immediately, so it is not easy to use my own profile for the test case. Her profile was a very good case for this issue. (Although I believe she didn't intend it!)
When I searched "chiyo linden" with 1.19.0 RC1, Chiyo's prpfile is shown as: "日本語専門ã? リエゾンã? ã? 。よ ‚?ã? ã??ã?ーã? 。"
