Linking to my issue - VWR-3755 - with search box becoming unchecked on items set for sale when someone buys a copy of/ contents of the item while I am offline.

This meta-issue seems the best place for my comment: The new Search feature is much, much worse than the old Search (which was bad enough!) Under the new system, it's almost impossible to find anything useful, unless you already know its exact name. Try, for example, searching for "Freebies"...you'll get lots of results, but where are popular freebie stores such as The Free Dove?

Search is an essential tool for a service like Second Life. If it doesn't work, there will be a great many frustrated users. As a Mentor, I'm already seeing newcomers at the Welcome Areas wondering "What is there to do around here?". They are unable to find any of the really great places in SL, because the new Search DOES NOT WORK.

I recommend reverting to the OLD Search immediately, as a quick band-aid fix to the problem. If it takes as long to "fix" the new Search as it did to "fix" the old one, Second Life is going to lose a great many new residents who are simply unable to find the things that are here.

The problem is, Lindal, that it requires everyone to do a measure of gaming in order to be found. Freebies is not in the title; it only occurs once in a very short description. Although, if search did some kind of check based on objects on the land, it would see overwhelmingly that the items are free, but the objects are not coordinated to identify themselves as freebies in their descriptions, for the most part.

But if you search for "free" they are #4 - because many of their objects use the word "free." You have to pick your keyword and run with it. The system isn't telepathic, and it can't be. Like it or not, we all need to optimize our parcel descriptions to be found in search. Being terse doesn't help.

Added SVC-1230 and SVC-1231 which are issues for bugs relating to plural words and words separated by slashes respectively.

Search for plural and I am at the top, search for singular and I am no where - makes no sense.

I own a vehicle store with mostly helicopters. At first I listed helicopters as I assumed helicopter would be identified as the root word of the plural version. This is not the case. While my store is on the first page of search results for helicopters - plural, I am no where to be found for helicopter singular. This makes no sense. At any rate, I have since added the singular term, but still, this is an important search issue. Obviously if you are top for helicopters, you should be top for helicopter, again, makes no sense. Thanks,

Web Magic

Almost no systems will make the singular out of the plural. Always list the singular.
