 Description  « Hide
At least two recent DMGs for test builds of Snowglobe have had (in my opinion) wrong names for the application inside. A test build should be named something like "Snowglobe Test Build" or "Snowglobe Release Candidate". The app should not be named simply "Snowglobe" if it isn't an official final release, for the simple reason that you end up overwriting the official release version when you unpack the test build.

There are workarounds (e.g., unpacking the app into a subfolder or renaming the official release before you unpack the beta version.) But this is still a significant annoyance.

The version number on the Mac app file is inconsistent. The latest beta version of Snowglobe is 1.2.3 (2995) — but the Get Info function in MacOSx shows a version number of 1.2.1.0

Is this related to SNOW-311?

This is actually the way things are according to our release management process: RC are supposed to be "shippable" and there's nothing that differentiate an RC from a final build. When we produce RCs, we increment the "patch" version number (the "y" in the "w.x.y.z" version number). At some point, we'll collectively deem the version "official" and, without any tweak or build (which is the reason for using the final exe name...), post it as a download off the official page.

That being said SNOW-311 is indeed wrong and I'll take that one in.
