 Description  « Hide
When you report a bug in-world or when you get a note from Milo Linden that a report is being closed, you receive email containing nothing but the summary line. When this is accompanied by a request that you file a report in Jira or attempt to reproduce it and refile it in-world, and you can't recall exactly what the problem you reported three months ago was, this just adds insult to injury.

My proposal is that:

1. When you report a bug in-world, a complete copy of the bug report including any snapshot is mailed to you. This might be optional, with the option of selecting whether the email you receive contains the whole report, the full text of the report but only a link to the snapshot, or only a summary... but if so either the checkbox state should be remembered or it should default to at least "full text", and the email should contain a link or email address you can use to request the rest of the report.

2. When a bug is closed, or you receive any other email about a bug, you are again sent the full text of your bug report or a link/address to request it.

3. Once, immediately after this feature is implemented, a single email is sent to each person who has any bug reports in the database. This will containing the summary of each report, and the link/address to request the full report.

[filed under misc because it involves service, web, and email issues.]

Worse yet, when Milo writes you to ask you to put it in JIRA, he specifically says that he can't give you the body of the bug. This prompts me to write back that I have no idea what the bug was, and could he please import it himself? So far, no luck on that

I've long since stopped using the inworld bug reporting tool. jira is far better.

That's one reason I want this feature, to give people a way to easily turn their inworld bug reports to Jira entries.
