I'm keeping an eye on this in hopes of further discerning if this was a temporary problem with recent Grid issues, or a new bug.
I know things like this are difficult to reproduce but if anyone figures a way to reliably make this happen, please let us know. In the meantime, others affected should also share their details here. Please continue to report: * The names of affected Residents (both the buyer and the seller) * The region where this happened * The exact item name * Date and time of the purchase. To make it easier, this info can be obtained from your Transactions History: » https://secondlife.com/account/transactions.php along with the transaction #s, which you should also provide if you have it. Thanks for your patience in this time of frustration. This happens to me so often!
I own Bad@zz and get many many complaints abou t items not arriving.. I guess its just the top of the iceberg.. since most newbies dont know how to contact the creator of an item Ill try keep a list.. its hard to do so because the list ends after 500 items, and most of my IM from customers get capped, so i dont know all. It seems to be worse at times, SL runs worse.
I have submitted a ticket regarding a land purchase, in which ownership was not transferred to me - so, not exactly an inventory issue but definitely a 'failed purchase' issue.
Transaction: 503347335 Date: 2007-09-13 15:46:50 Type: Land Sale Like other residents, I'm still experiencing problems with new items not showing up in inventory. However they do appear after a while, or after re-logging. I thought it was due to my cluttered inventory, but maybe it is a bug so I'm mentioning it here! The last few weeks I didn't get as musch messages about this untill I figured ot why.
People complained to me: this is the third time I'm sending you this message. I never received any of their previous messages, so I guess mmost of them were capped or lost when I crashed. This non receiving items bug in combination with the IM caps makes it impossible to reach many people who's items didn't arrive. It's a serious issue when people spend money, and it's impossible for them to request a replacement because IMs don't arrive. Region: Guksu Destination: Mihai Antwerp L$1,100 I have lost several when buying in other shops, and sadly enough many shopowners don't replace them. Happens to at least one or two of my customers every two to three days. I always replace items.
This has happened since months and tbh I doubt it'll ever be fixed. Costs me 10-30 minutes every 2 days to deal with it. Thanks LL. Lucky me has now had this problem start occurring since 16th October.
Items purchased through scripted networked vendors in world don't seem to be getting delivered. It's an intermittent problem. Some transactions with the same vendor / server work fine within minutes of the one that failed. So far I've not heard of a problem with the simpler single panel vendors I use where the object is stored in the vendor itself. (Crosses fingers!) In the last three days, as new member, I've experienced at least three scenarios along these lines:
1) Purchased item(s) that did show up as objects in inventory, but apparently what was purchased was the 3D sign advertising (& acting as purchase interface for). So later when applying the object to the avatar, the large-ish sign appeared as some messed-up appendage or cubist rendition of a sandwich board. 2) Sometimes I've bought items (fortunately less expensive ones) and not seen them in my inventory when looking for them later. As with others' experiences seen in this thread. 3) Today I bought something, didn't receive it, & right after this event, the sign displaying the desired outfit then put up a, "Sold Out" or "Unavailable" sign. Wish I'd been the last one to get the product though... A general remark on the subject: Who's getting the $3000+ Linden$ I've spent on products not delivered as advertised? And how is it that the object representing the advertisement & the payment interface is also an object that can get "sold" somehow - or associated with the inventory of - somehow who's just paid money for nothing? I'm empathetic to bugs in v-worlds being nasty, particularly with so many contributors & so much going on....add to it those who may even exploit object weaknesses... but the unfairness to customers losing money is frustrating. (Losing a dollar in a broken coke machine is one thing. Losing $3-$10 dollars on virtual outfits is another.) Any possibility of recovering some of the Linden$ losses from these issues? This is happening with increasing frequency over the past few weeks. I've had this happen more in the past 4 weeks alone than in the previous year altogether.
I never had this problem in the past, but in the last week purchases have been very slow to deliver. I bought seven items in the last three days and five of them took several hours to appear. The other two have still not arrived. Both were from JEVN vendors. So 100% of my JEVN puchases have vanished. I tried the link that Torley gave above but it does not show the two transactions, however the money is still gone.
I have had several complaints that my customers have paid for items and never received them but the money they paid for the items was taken from their account but not recorded in their transaction history or in my transaction history. I've had them clear cache, restart their computer, relog into SL and their balance is still reflective of the balance as if they paid for something and didn't get what they paid for and the transactions are still not showing up. These are purchases from non-scripted boxes set for sale.
During the Rolling Restart on Nov 28th 4 of 11 purchases failed in 2 locations. The money was taken from the customer but nothing was delivered. In one case there was the message "Assert server did not respond in a timely fashion".
3 items were bought from a vendor and one was a direct purchase via "buy". Personal comment: This is becoming VERY annoying and time consuming cause fradulent users abuse those instable times to receive replacements for things they have never lost :-( We have to check on each case and also go thru the usual scenarion with the customer (cache clear, relog, search etc). You put the merchants in a big dilemma: We try to help people who loose things and on the other hand we have no chance to verify anything. You simply write in your TOS: "experimental plattform, LL is not responsible for any loss" and at the same time support tells us merchants to "generously replace things". I'm experiencing a disturbing amount of failures, too. My sales are recorded locally in the vendor, and globally in a backend external server system. In all cases, no record ever shows up there, but it DOES appear in my transaction history, and I recieve the money.
It basically seems like money events aren't triggering properly. 20 623630109
Date: 2007-11-28 12:17:55 Type: Payment Desc: Saiyan Elite Bodysuit - Blue - Vendor Region: Crescent Source: Derin Swenson L$500 This is the most recent failure, as reported by one of my customers. I can be sure the item wasn't delivered, because the vendor has no record of it. Even in times of communicaiton failures,m the vendor itself will always keep a record when it dispenses items. I can't speak for all of the cases here, but I don't think this is a transaction issue, so much as a script issue. The money event isn't triggering 100% of the time. Has anyone here had these problems with non vendor purchases. Ie, objects set for sale, rather than scripted vendors.
The simplest way to tell the difference, is that with vendors, you have a pay option. With for sale objects, it's Buy instead. yes my vendors dont use scripts (have buy as an option instead of pay) and in most cases, I sell copies from the furniture in the shop. The bug happens at these sales too.
I get several messages a week from people who didn't get their items. I've asked in the inventory loss blog if it was usefull to email the list of non arriving items, and was told yes, but I never got a single reply when I sent the email. Nothing happened ever since. I stopped keeping track of them now, about 3-10% of the items people buy never arrive, I guess its just something we have to live with. Even after so long, theres no linden assigned to this issue, not a single reply here, and I don't think there ever will be one. Many of my customers and sales people who mention the bug in their profile don't vote here because they don't understand how jira works.. the lindes dont reply at all.. i dont think this will ever be fixed. This is just a hopeless case. I'm using Second Life 1.18.5 (75173) Dec 6 2007 10:26:10 (Second Life WindLight)
I seem to have had this happen to me several times. I do not remember which specifically, but it was some of the freebie, L$0, 'boxes' in the sim Stillman, at The Bazaar. I was mostly obtaining textures, in any case. One in specific may have been the "Shadow & Lighting Effects Textures".. They're the "buy contents" kind of boxes, single click it or right click, "Buy..." On some of them, I needed to "buy" twice before obtaining the item. For some, nothing at all appeared to happen the first time I clicked buy, except that the buy/object contents window closed. The second time, when it worked, I got a notice in the upper right corner saying the name of the new folder in my inventory, and the contents as usual. Of course, I do not know if the server had received my failed "Buy" clicks in any way at all, since there were no L$ charges involved. The situation has been ongoing for me since October. I have filled out support tickets, one after the other. It happens in different regions, in different types of vendors, and when I purchased an item from myself, it even *I* didn't get it. I'm an authorized reseller and one of the companies I resell for does not make us whole when this happens, so I'm losing money on every failed transaction as I feel I need to do what's right for the customer!
It happened to me in Archnid island. Purchased items (with BUY option in menus, no scripts) and items were never delivered. It happened in different days and still happening too, 100% of times. Other people is happily shopping in the same place... I just don't receive anything.

I'm unsure if it's related, but.. I wonder. In Bare Rose HQ, the sim "Bare Rose", I tried to buy an L$1 item three times with Right click, Buy... then click the blue Buy button. The blue Buy button failed while I had Tools, Select Only My Objects enabled. No money was transferred at all, it is as if I had hit cancel instead of buy. Once I disabled "Select Only My Objects", it worked. The item/box in question was the "Logo YUKATA" at about 188,28,36. I wonder if scripted "Pay" things are behaving in a similar way? Perhaps someone should test whether a purchase fails if "Select Only My Objects" is on versus off. Or.. I may have just been 'lucky' and it was a coincidence that it worked after turning "Select Only My Objects" off. It happened to me on March 3rd and again today as a customer. Both times I got this message after uying from a vendor "The system is currently unable to process your request. The request timed out."
On March 3rd, there was an issue with buying and I received the warning message from Linden labs after I had bought; to day there was an issue too and I received the warning before I bought, so I waited till the issue was apparently resolved according to the blog... How do I get my purchased items in my inventory? The vendor nicely gave me all information and references from my March 3rd missing items, but I really have no idea how to address the issue. On Sunday, March 9th I purchased 20 items over a two hour period but
