Missing inventory. After login I missed the content from all folders without Calling Card, Gestures and Notecards.
Even my own folders in the root are empty.
Only folders containing used items (ie. in Body parts-->my_eyes) containing the used eyes - all other items are gone.
Normaly I have nearly 18.000 items, now I got 4.200.
Its now the 3th. day.

Does this happen on any other computers and/or versions? And does clearing the cache have any effect?

me i had the same problem for three days,
all of my work was gone,
cache-clearing helped immedeately.
relog, all was fine

Same kind of problem encounterd over the last 24 hours. I have tried cache clearing and relogging but this hasn't helped a bit... Thousands of items are now missing from my inventory.No unknown object accepted...
I hope it can be sorted out very quickly...Thank you for taking care of the problem.

Laana - if you have access to a second computer, can you see your items from there? If you can, try reinstalling SL on the first computer. If you can't, you might want to get ahold of a Linden asap, through the support channels or otherwise.

I find this to be not only frustrating but as a financial loss. Over the past 6 days i lost the contents of my Calling Card folder and expense items just purchased. Also missing were most, but not all landmarks. My friends list keeps coming up empty on a regular basis. Tried cashe clearing several times and re-installing SL and no help up to now. I feel there should be some way for a resident to back up inventory and not leave it in the hands of LL. It's LL responsibilty to ensure our data and they are failing us.

Same problem for me. I also noticed when I log out the game crashes. When I log in recent inventory can be stuff from months ago, but sometimes the folders are empty now. I don't get it and since this causes financial loss, I don't see why this isn't top priority, like it would be for various other gaming companies I've worked for. I really think Linden Labs needs to adjust their priorities on this.

I've tried clearing the cache and logging in on my account over 13 computers I own in this very room, and nothing has corrected the problem. I shouldn't even have to go onto a different computer, talk about unprofessional. I'd like to see this inventory loss issue fixed FINALLY before adding new features. Fix what's wrong, what's critical and keep it stable for a few months before adding new things to the mix.

This seems to me to be local problems on the user's end. Before reporting a bug like this, you ahve to try the proper support channels. Always try clearing your cache... it fixes almost anything.

I have just had the same sort of issue. However there is some extra information here which may help.

C. 3900 items in inventory.

Log on (using the new voice viewer for the first time), went to put my default outfit (yes - including hand made items of sentimental value) - an it's all gone. Only the directory structure is left. Of course inventory is still loading.. fair enough c. 1900 items with the ellipis...
wait wait wait.

Still no sign .

Relog

Inv loads 1825 items.

Repeated relog and cache clearing don't help.

Of course my stuff may "come back" any time - I know several people that has happened to. If it does I will update the bug.

And Leroy - this is the only support channel for real issues available to non-premium members. Even if it's not support.

I just typed a long comment only to lose it as the session had timed out.

So here's the short version.

1. Recovered from different machine.
2. There are dozens of "missing inventory" bugs logged, and it is a well -known and widespread problem.
3. The serve and client should compare inv count, or an MD5 of UUIDs to determine when syncing is necessary, if the problems can't all be resolved.

This has been going on since the day SL voice was introduced into the system we get a choice of Ruth which i don't undertand anyways when out folder holds our new default AVI. Or no money or now the newest no friends. ASSET server hs a leak or a plug somwhere but im tired of not getting or having to wait for ever for inventory. The latest is now your inworl all seems ok then for some reason dies. So on relog what you were creating is nowhere to be found.

Yesterday (9 Aug 07) between 12:00 and 14:30 SLT, the grid was extremely unstable, and I crashed repeatedly. When I crashed and logged back in at approximately 14:30 SLT, my Inventory went from 7,800+ items to just over 5,000. My 'Objects' (system) folder was completely empty , and EVERY item was gone. The only 'Objects' I had left were those rezzed on the property that I rent, and a few items that I literally had on me.

Granted, I had a lot of junk in there, but I also had some nice items that I'd made, modified, or had paid L$ for. These included over a dozen food and drink trays (average price L$ 300 each) and some nice furniture pieces.

If our inventories aren't safe, then what is? At least in RL, I have insurance in case I get wiped out. I guess my question is, are my things safe in SL, or am I just S.O.L.?

You need to fix this continual instability on the grid, or you are going to lose many more users than you'll keep.

This has been an ongoing problem for multiple users, in multiple countries for at least the last two days. Items purchased may have folders appear, but the objects themselves may not appear for up to 24 hrs later. Clothing changes in "Appearences" may or may not process, and may or may not show the items available.

It would appear that there are problems with database connectivity. Problems have been especially bad since the voice start-up.

Having watched CompuServe self-destruct because of arrogance regarding both its competition and its user-base, I hope Linden will be responsive and not only address these issues, but to keep us informed.

Prioritize inventory fetching when a user has it open.

This isn't really a bug as Leroy has said. Especially because of recent network issues, the inventory just doesn't fetch and seems to get stuck "forever."

i always have this habit, try if it helps:
  • clear cache (optional)
  • login
  • click Recent Items of Inventory
  • check to make sure items are loading on the top of Inventory tab
  • should be seeing this "Inventory (xxxx items) - Since Logoff
  • if slow loading, go to a lower ground, the lower you are to 0, the faster the items load (from observations)

clearing cache and reloging does not help with this problem its going on my 2nd day with this issues.... what can i do to get my items back ?

I am still getting Object can not be loaded, Object is missing from the data base. Sighs, and some is the new hair i just bought. It is bad enough that all my gestures have been ruined, but now hair and new clothing are turning up "NOT IN DATA BASE".

grrrrrrrr what is going on now , I was camping i crashed and now half my inventory is missing as well as some really important landmarks, and I can NOT file a bug report. Can you Fix this ASAP please. Hope there is a update to fix this stuff

i've tried ALL of the usual fixes (except for the one where you log off SL and ignore it for a few days) and my inventory only loads up to 1,473 and stops. i have 16,000+ items. this has been going on 3 days now. usually it comes back slowly, and for some reason TPing to a mainland sim used to help ... that did not happen this time. i've TPed to every different kind of region i can think of, Dreamland, class 5 servers, the islands, the mainland ... even below 0 meters ... nothing.

the SL Library still has clothing in it that i can see ... but when i double click it, nothing happens. when i right-click it to "wear" it says, in greyed out text, "No option" ... so i can't even wear the default clothing. i'm naked and bald.

I locked my house floor called "Ground floor with spiral staircase", it disappeared. I installed a second Ground floor from my Inventory, locked it and it disappeared. I then cleared the cache, in order to see if the objects had appeared there: and over half of my inventory (4500) had disappeared, and is not to be seen again on either of two computers, or in standard SL or SL Windlight. Do I go and collect the missing items again for my inventory? Will this happen every time I clear my cache?

I am having the same problem and it didn't start until I updated this Wednesday to version 1.18.5 (3). I normally have 8,000 + items and now only 3,000+ are loading. I have folders that show titles but no arrows in front of them so they are empty. This includes the pants I'm wearing right now. My inventory was fine on Tuesday, Jan 8, 2008 so I feel the latest update is to blame. Please fix this. I'm getting frustrated and I am afraid to change my clothes for fear that I'll lose my pants. I'm missing all my notecards too! I have cleared my cache several times and still nothing.

Inventory lost in SL house. Anyone else suffer this fate after updating to the latest SL program version? Who is responsible for getting back my paid for stuff anyway? Like heck would I become a premium member if nonpremiums get treated like crap. IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE???

Also you do not have to be a premium member to contact support about inventory issues.
