Linden Lab Issue ID: DEV-11034

 Description  « Hide
Both my malls one at monowai on the mainland and one at quelle, an island, are showing zero traffic. This is killing my businesses as we are always on the frontpage of search normally and it will take a long time to recover from this.

Khisanth,
Traffic Counter issue!

I have been having an ongoing problem since Feb. 20 when I bought my property in Khisanth.
My Traffic Counter in Khisanth 63, 64 & 65, 64 area keeps being reset.
One day I can have 750, next day almost nothing!!!
My property is in 2 halves, both are 8192m
The Traffic counter on both halves keep resetting almost daily!!!
This unfairly pushes my place down the list a long way.
No one has fixed it and I put out many bug reports.
Can a Linden help???

ps. When I joined SL, I had plans to buy a few sims.
With all the unreliable service, plans of expansion have been rescinded.

Having sat for nearly two full days on my own land to see traffic =0
I'd say you have a point.

Please let me know if you are still having this issue.

This bug has recently been affecting my land with my store on it, which i feel could adversely affect my sales. When i shop, traffic is one thing i look at. I then see if there is camping available, as this can give an unrealistic impression of what traffic a parcel is actually receiveing. I do not have camping and my traffic was gradually growing only to be reverted to 0 3 times now. Please can someone look at this again, thank you

I reopened this issue days ago despite being of 'major' importance and it still adversely affecting my business, it remains unassigned. PLEASE can someone look at this!!! And is there a way you cna make the traffic count display the real picture on my land once it is fixed?????? My visitor counter is reading triple figures while traffic reads 4!!!!!

Just to keep you up to date on how LL's lack of help with my continuing and now long running problem is affecting my business:

Unique visitors today = 23, yesterday = 13, total = 148
Peak unique visitors today = 3, Yesterday = 1, Total = 3
Visitor minutes on your land today = 58, Yesterday = 37, Total = 531
Totals are for 10 days of monitoring

and yet if my land fees weren't paid on time you have the power to freeze me account...justice eh

I get almost the same problem. Since I joined 3 parcels into one some days ago, the traffic counter is blocked to the same value (the one the biggest parcel had) and did not change in days. I had to wait more than half a day to have the 3 parcels recognized as one, and be available in Search. They are real bugs - land management should be a priority on other tasks? I dont know how the database is organized - to link owners, groups, permissions, search & traffic, but basically there is something wrong in the design, cant be networking problems

All parcels on my private islands Prodigious I and Prodigious II are not updating there traffic count , seems to be stuck to a value from approx 3-4 days ago..about when there was a server update. Lucky im not stuck on 0, however this does effect the business of my other residents..many thanks

akysha zenovka added a comment - 06/Feb/08 06:53 AM
I have three parcels that haven't updated their traffic in about 4 or 5 days. As with the rest, this affects my business. It puts me back at the bottom of the list and just sits there. Please fix this soon.

My store now hasnt reflected the real no of traffic in over 3 weeks. LL are still doign nothing to fix it. They ignore my support tickets, and to top it off I am having other issues with mod rights and editing...which is just wonderful when you are getting married an getting land with your future husband who wont always be there to do things at my will that i could do myself should LL actually do sth right and PAY ATTENTION TO ISSUES AND FIX THEM!!!!!!!!

Mystiphi Giha added a comment - 18/Feb/08 07:44 AM

Should be fixed now!

The parcel traffic count problem still exists, and hasn't resolved. I have parcels in both mainland and in private islands, and they both have similar problems. In fact, the problem expanded into not only resetting to zero, but also decreasing the traffic count every day. That is, it counts down instead of counting up with every visitor!!!

Nicoladie Gymnast added a comment - 07/Apr/08 06:34 AM
It seems the traffic count is completely randomly updated. Some days it increments. Other days it decrements. Yet other days, it totally remains unchanged. Do a simple test to verify it: Ask another resident who had not visited the parcel to teleport to the parcel, and the count should change, but nothing changed. I don't understand why this is so hard to fix, and it takes so long to fix. It is nothing more than a simple line of code: count++

Today Our traffic ast Sweethearts region reset to 0 after traffic updates.
Yesterday it was 97,747 , today it is 0

Cindy Kellner added a comment - 04/Jun/08 11:53 AM
Please LL take a look at my islands, I have multiple tenants having their buisnesses hurt because the traffic isn't updating. They work hard hosting live events and such.

Mac Ayres added a comment - 04/Jun/08 12:58 PM
Hi, the last few days traffic is not updated. Not at my place at Seymour and not at Sky Island SE. I use viewer 1.19.0 (5). Thanks for your attention.

Has been a constant issue for three years, and happened again in the last week.

First I want to say I think some people do not understand how LL`s traffic counting works. It does not count by visitor it counts by the amount of time an avatar spends on your sim.

Now, I am going to paste what I posted on a similar issue:

"Hello. Is anyone else still experiencing this?
For months now my traffic barely budges, it is having a REALLY bad effect on my business.

For years my traffic was anywhere from 13-17k daily; overnight, this dropped drastically to around 4k and has stayed int hat area since, however the amount of traffic flow to my shop did not change. (So there was no reason for my traffic to have dropped to 4k)

I did some tests and there is indeed a problem.

What I did:

I cut out a little square on my sim where no one went and began the traffic count there at 0. I kepy my avatar in a skybox all day, and the traffic remained at 0. Next, I put my avatar on the ground in the plot, and the traffic went up to about 315 for that small plot.

Goes to show when im in the sky, it does not even calculate, and when on ground, it is not calculating correctly.

These types of issues should be fixed ASAP. Why I was told to file a jira and have people vote is ridiculous and I refuse to follow that rule, I will continue to phone and put in tickets and live chats. I pay every month for my SIM, and it is not operating the way it should, they should either fix it, or lower my tier payment not beat around the bush and then tell me to post a Jira. Every Jira i have seen so far on issues similar to this are..........Unassigned."

I've noticed this problem in the past few days - traffic count appears near frozen on 4 different parcels on 4 different regions.

Kriste Beck added a comment - 09/May/09 03:52 AM - edited
Seems as though this problem is cropping up again on mainland sims...both of my builds were ranking at about 1,000 - 2,000 in search, and now both show 0 and are very far down on the list.

As of 5/7/09, my build in Bracket was at 1,4950 and today it reads 0.

This is very frustrating as we have worked hard to create quality builds and this may reduce the number of potential visitors.

This issue may also hurt my business and the businesses of others, as I also rent out shops on my land in Bracket that is currently reading 0 on the traffic ranking.

This is a major problem and needs to be fixed!
