 Description  « Hide
When I select an object and either try to delete it or to copy it to inventory the object stays in world.
I also had an object that I'd tried to take a copy of but the object remained. I had to log off for a couple of hours but when I logged back on the object was neither in world or in my inventory. I cleared cache and relogged but it was nowhere to be found

(repro from Homer Horwitz [13/Jun/07 02:33 PM]
Yep, I had the same problem in several sims. The deleted prims seem to appear in the "About Land" dialog as "Selected / sat upon".

To reproduce:

  • Rez a cube
  • Change anything (move it or scale it or leave edit mode)
  • Right click, More, Delete
  • The circular particles appear, but the cube doesn't vanish (most of the time). "Selected / sat upon" goes up by one
  • Log out
  • The cube has vanished, but the number of used prims is still the same.

Note:

  • If I delete it just after rez (without changing anything first), the cube is deleted successfully (so far)
  • While deleting it leads to this error, taking it into the inventory (Right click, Take) seems to work fine for me.
  • If you edit the freshly deleted cube again, before you re-login (as it is still visible then), you can see on the "General" tab that all values are reset (no name/description, no creator, no owner, ...)
  • After the re-login, the cube isn't visible anymore at all, but still there somehow. At least, if you walk over that position, your avatar is lifted a bit as if it steps on it.

Yes, I have the same. I and 2 other girls own a nightclub, Yhe Midnight Train. We have spent months and hundreds of $US on it. We were going to move to a new rigion. So, I went through the club, and TOOK eveything. Then, the Sim crashed, and I had to logg off. When I came back, eveything I had picked up was gone.
It stayed in world when I took it, but I have seen "ghosts" before, so I thought nothing of it. But when I came back to the club, it was completly empty, and NONE of it is in my Inventory. I can not possibly replace it all.
Today, I have to go back to the club and tell my two partners, 50 employees, and 100 VIPs that there IS no Midnight Train anymore. I am sure they are going to want to know what happend. I only wish I knew.

SOME of the Items lost were:

$5000 SexGen Bed
$2500 Sploder
8-$1700 Dance Poles
$800 Dance Ball
$1700 Lap Dance Chair
$400 Massage Table

Plus Dozens of Tip Jars, two Lap Dance Tables, a Bar, Lights, Lightning, Dance Pose Balls, a Dual Dance Pole

This loss will kill our club, and probably force me out of SL if I can't get this stuff back quick!

I have several objects on my own land that can not be deleted, taken, nor returned. They show a null creator, null owner. One of them was rezzed out of my inventory today, the other was a SHIFT-COPY of a prim that I had created only a few minutes before. Trying to sit upon these objects yields an error message stating that I should move closer, the object is not in the same region as myself.

Yesterday, there were several objects that could not be see even with Show Transparencies, but that were solid, causing us to stop in mid stride, that we could stand upon, etc.

I have a store in which I sell original items. Creating sales boxes is very difficult with this issue. It has seriously limited my ability to package products for sale, therefore slowing down production and new shop openings.

had the same problem with a no mod copy item....... our prim baby....

i tried to pick her up she ghosted and did not appear in my inventory i left the sim and came back and there was no sign.

we're frantically chacking both invwentorys and clearing cache to no avail.

Part of the delay is due the transaction handshake. Obejcts don't disappear immediately as they are deleted. It has to receive a message from the server. If there was a packet loss, that message might not be received.

Lost inventory is a separate issue. This one may be a little awkward to separate these issues.

Can those of you who're affected please provide the coordinates and date & time when this happens next to you? We'd like to catch it in the act. Feel free to email me at torley at lindenlab dot com with subject line "MISC-287" to notify me.

Seems to be the same bug to me.

This appears to be the same issue as SVC-242: Copyable objects are not appearing in inventory after being taken, are remaining, invisible, in world
and thus should have been resolved with the rolling restart on June 28th, 2007. Please see http://blog.secondlife.com/2007/06/28/rolling-restart-starting-1045-pst/#comments

Has anyone had this occur since the rolling restart? If not, this issue should be closed as resolved.

No more reports of this after the request for them, so this seems to be fixed.

rick burton added a comment - 06/Aug/07 03:39 AM
This is not fixed. I just lost 2 objects from my place and I have 2 selected/sat on objects on my land.

I have experienced this issue. I am actually still experiencing it. The item in question exists at this location: Howelsen 233, 145,652. I have been informed that it may resolve itself after the next region restart.

Maygray Heron added a comment - 30/Jan/08 11:57 PM
This issue is again experienced in the region Iseo, displaying 61 prims as Selected / Sat Upon permanently. The recent rolling restart did not fix this problem.

Mercia Mcmahon added a comment - 16/Apr/08 05:44 AM
I had this in Serpentata, and fixed it by setting low auto-return, which worked even though manual Return did not.
