 Description  « Hide
When logging into SL nothing is wrong, but after a few seconds or minutes, time varies, my avatar freezes in place if I was not moving or continues walking forever if I was moving. The avatar can still turn and chat and to others will still continue to move as though nothing were wrong, until SL disconnects. Objects in SL will also stop loading when the freeze kicks in.

The interesting thing behind this is that I have been able to test this on three different network. At my apartment, where I have Cox Cable, this problem happens almost instantly and I'm usually only able to be on for 15 seconds before it kicks me off, this also happends on my girlfriend's laptop. At a friend's house, with Cavalier Cable, it also happends, but as long as I keep moving or teleporting once I freeze I can keep it going for much longer, but it will eventually disconnect. At my parent's house, where they have Verizon fiberoptic there are no problems with this or any other part of SL (Only problem being I am almost never there).

I'll also point out that before January the apartment did not have Cox Cable, but had another providers, which I can't recall, but before January I had no problems with SL.

I am convinced that these two providers have done something withtheir networks that stop SL from working, I just need to know if anyone else if having problems with their avs/SL like this or if it works one place and has these problems other places.

If people are having these problems with their providers, I'm hoping that maybe the Lindens will sit down for a talk with them...

Avery, please see this article in Knowledge Base for checking your network connection How do I check for packet loss (network lag)?

This article will show you how to get detailed information about the performance of your computer and the Second Life world Statistics Bar Guide

Please also see these articles in Knowledge Base How can I improve performance ? and Is my firewall responsible for problems with Second Life?

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card. ATI have recently released 5/15/2009 Catalyst 9.5 OpenGL 2.1.8664

If you're using wireless networking, you should try troubleshooting with a direct wired connection; we allow, but do not support the use of wireless network connections.

If this happens consistently after a certain period of time (like a few minutes), it's likely there's other software on your computer (firewall or internet security software) that's disconnecting Second Life.

If this is still an issue please Submit a Ticket with Support for a response tailored to your individual situation see JIRA Home page

Thank you : )

This problem: VWR-5832 is the same problem that I have posted here, with a comment from me on it, as well as others. I know what the problem is, and it is certianly not packet loss.
