 Description  « Hide
After working on an object in world, I right-clicked and chose "take". The object took some time to vanish, and then I got the message "Asset server didn't respond in a timely fashion. Object returned to sim." But the object was not returned to the sim, and was not given to my inventory. It was destroyed. As a result I have to repeat building work.

(I have also recently experienced total loss of no-copy inventory through asset server delays, costing me money for replacements.)

Clearly, asset server delays can cause total loss of objects, costing real time and money. There need to be additional failsafe mechanisms in Second Life to prevent these losses.

Mimika, please see the link on the JIRA Home page

Missing/Lost Inventory? Go here

If this is still an issue please Submit a Ticket with Support for account-specific help

I appear to be missing inventory that I know should be there. What do I do?

Thank you : )

I have read all of those articles from the knowledgebase. I also know from experience that if I contact support they will remind me that I have not paid Linden Labs for an account and that's all.

Please excuse me, but I am not complaining about a particular instance of object loss, but a systematic failure, i.e. a bug. I am not concerned about these particular objects, and I do not want "support" about these incidents. I am reporting a problem with the Second Life system that I have observed. I did search for a bug reporting this particular problem and couldn't find one, so I created a new one. I am not requesting backdoor support for an incident via JIRA. I am reporting a bug.

I believe it is a bug, because the Second Life software should not destroy potentially valuable assets because of server delay.

You should still open a support ticket in addition to leaving this open. You do not have to be a Premium member to get support on this, choose Special Questions - Basic Account or Guest Login than I had rezzed an object inworld but it disappeared and I cannot find it then support in trying to find it may find the cause.
