Your environment shows some packet loss

Packets Lost: 230/7289 (3.2%)

Is this typical for your connection?

As suggested in the first error message, please provide details of your network setup:

  • What type / speed connection do you have?
  • Is your computer connected to a wired, or wireless router?
  • Are you running SL on a connection which is being used for other downloads (e.g. downloading movies at the same time)?
  • What is your "Maximum Bandwidth" set to (in Edit, Preferences, Network)?
  • Are you using a (hardware or software) firewall?

Please re-open this issue when you have added the additional information.

Knowledgebase articles:
How do I check for packet loss (network lag)?
Is my firewall responsible for problems with Second Life?
How do I configure my software firewall (such as Norton Internet Security, McAfee Personal Firewall, or ZoneAlarm)?
How do I configure my hardware firewall (such as a router)?
I'm having problems while on wireless networks

Missing/Lost Inventory? Go here

Object Missing From Database Error Message

If you get an "Object Missing From Database" error message when you rez an item from your inventory then sometimes the system notices this error and is able to automatically recover your missing object. However, in order to see if Second Life was able to recover your missing object, you will need to wait one hour, clear your cache as described in Clearing Second Life's cache, logout and then log back in and look in your Inventory Window to see if the item has reappeared.

Please see these articles in Knowledge Base How can I improve performance ? and How do I check for packet loss (network lag)?

  • Make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card.

Please check for an update to your Windows OS to XP SP3

Please run a Traceroute and check to see where the packet loss is happening.

First, what is packet loss? Packets of data travel across computer networks, including the Internet, home or any corporate network. If one or more of these packets fails to reach its destination, packet loss occurs. These lost or dropped packets can result in performance issues.
If your network transport protocol provides for packet recovery, a transmitted packet that is lost will be re-sent. However, it will be re-sent along with every other packet of data that had been sent after it. This causes the overall throughput of the connection to drop.

This article will show you how to get detailed information about the performance of your computer and the Second Life world Statistics Bar Guide

Please try the latest RC Viewer which can be downloaded from here Release Candidate Test Viewers

If this is still an issue please Submit a Ticket with Support for account-specific help

I appear to be missing inventory that I know should be there. What do I do?

Thank you : )
