 Description  « Hide
You have banned two consenting adults for acting out a fantasy. That fantasy may be offensive to some, but it is legal in the US.

If all fantasy behavior that depicts an act that is illegal in real life is subject to banning, the TOS should reflect this, and you should begin banning the following:

Simulated bestiality (i.e. furries)
Homosexual behavior (a capital offense in many countries)
War Games, and other violent behavior

Please clarify the TOS to state that these are banned as per your apparent new policy to ban simulated illegal activities.

I also suggest you modify the slogan for Second Life. Perhaps "Our World, Our Whims" would be more appropriate.

There is a new installation of Age Verification to help prevent any accidental wrongful act in the course of mere virtual exploration.

The case is further explained on Slashdot: http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/05/10/164250

It goes beyond mere virtual exploration. The said case may have links to actual child porn, and I doubt LL will let SL become an underground network for child porn.

Resolved.

This isn't about the real child porn, if there even was any.

This is about them banning two ageplayers.

We don't yet have a issue type for "Policy"; we shouldn't be filing policy change suggestions as bugs (it'd add to the Issue Tracker noise we've already got our hands full with). You know how it goes, a few people start doing it, and then more pile on and say "You let those ones get by!"

So, closing this, respectfully pending we have a proper place so we can handle such requests appropriately.

I would to ask, if possible, to receive an email notification of where I could go to discuss and read about policy changes, as well about LInden Lab position regarding freedom of people expressing their fantasies in a virtual way

The resolution is quite simple, actually. First, STOP LOOKING FOR LOOPHOLES TO JUSTIFY IT! regardless OF WHETHER IT"S ILLEGAL OR NOT, the IDEA of it is WRONG! Second, remove child avatars, whether human, alien, furry, animal, or otherwise, as well as "naughty bits".

Banning furries, would mean you would have to ban aliens, mechawarriors, slugs, plants, and other species of avatars, including humans. If you did that, what would SL be, then? EMPTY. So, stop whining about all the loopholes concerning Internet Child Pornography. It's WRONG no matter HOW it's perceived. The Act, simulation or idea of harming a child the way those two individuals did is disgusting and wrong. Creating digital child porn serves only ONE purpose: to incite pedophiles "cravings" that will, as it has been proven time and time again, to harm a real, living breathing child. Child porn is wrong, pretending to be engaged in child porn is wrong, creating digital representations of child porn is wrong.

There is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE for child porn, whether real or virtual. It's WRONG to have sex with a child, it is WRONG to THINK about having sex with a child, and it is WRONG to portray it, whether involving REAL human beings, or virtual/digital ones. Children are hurt or killed because of garbage like this, and anyone who even BARELY supports so-called "freedom of expression" in DEFENDING even DIGITAL/Virtual child porn is just as GUILTY as the ones who actually commit these CRIMES every day. You are either FOR it or AGAINST it..there's NO MIDDLE GROUND. Make up your damn minds about which side you're on, and stop your f-ing whining about freedom of speech and freedom of "artistic" expression.

You've NO FREEDOM OF SPEECH or EXPRESSION when your "freedom" is doing something to HARM ANOTHER HUMAN BEING. Tell a child who's been raped about freedom of expression. Tell a child who's been sexually abused their entire childhood that there's ANYTHING GOOD ABOUT CHILD PORN.

Those of you badmouthing Linden Labs about thier "restrictive" policies insuring that those under 18 never set FOOT in or on adult SL: Grow up and grow a pair. The moral of the story is this:

If you have nothing to hide, stop complaining.

I have no problems with policies that help prevent minors on the main grid. I support them fully. The policies that prevent minors from accessing the main grid ensure that fantasies such as these harm no real minors.

I won't respond to the rest of your rant, except to say that you could equally say that violent movies only exist to "entice murderers", and so on.

I'm not involved in this age play stuff. It's not even about that. It's about Linden Lab banning adults for something that was legal and harmed no one.

I will say only this: submit definitive proof to your claims todd. Not some case study done by a university, nothing at all where the results can be skewed by anyone at all, nothing where the result changes every thirty seconds.

Until such a time as virtual images and the like (meaning things that are not real and in no way linked to a real acts occurring at the same time or to real persons), any argument linking virtual representations of anything to any kind of behavior is false logic.

Second Life and all that happens in it is not real: End of story.

Drag yourself out of the immersionist viewpoint you have and face real life.
