So the problem that's been happening the past 50 or more times I have logged into SL is that the bottom half of my Avatar is blank white. This includes skin, and any type of undergarment. Pants and skirts don't seem to be affected, nor do attachements. Just the bottom half of the skin, and any underwear or other undergarment that is put on. The skin was not changed at all, and origionally worked fine. I tried rebaking textures, tried changing groups, editing appearance, logging out and back in, emptying my cache, everything.

I have asked others about this issue, and it seems this isn't just me. The only problem is, when it happens to others, it seems to go away either after a while, or after a few days of logging back in. This has been going on far longer for me. Anyone have any help for this? Or is this another one of SL's famous bugs? or a new one?

LL, I wanted to bring this to your attention.

I have the same issue, though not quite identical. It's usually with the bottom half of the avatar. Skin'll be fine when you look at it in appearance, but either white or an entire non-alpha'd out image will take over the avatar's skin.

I've also noticed editing clothing is limited - pants do not currently shorten length, nor sleeves, etc.
I'm using the current SL client downloadable via the downloads page.

It looks likely that you have an NVIDIA graphics card with version 177 or 178 drivers.

There are known avatar rendering issues for these driver versions:

The following workaround has been reported:

  • Enable the Advanced Menu (Ctrl-Alt-D)
  • Disable rendering of Palletized Textures (Ctrl-Alt-F7, or Advanced/Rendering/Features/Palletized Textures)
  • Rebake (Ctrl-Alt-R)

You can also revert to NVIDIA 175.19 drivers to see if this resolves your issue.

I'm marking this issue as a duplicate.

thank you Gellan for that answer. That actually worked. Went into advanced/rendering/features/palletized textures and turned it off. Rebaked textures and it's working fine. I tried searching for this issue before posting this but found nothing. Thank you for your answer though. I appreciate it.
