 Description  « Hide
Our region is group owned - several objects have their group set to that group, and many are deeded to the group. The group has may members. For the last 2 weeks the group on these objects has shown as "Loading..." to everyone except the group creator and land owner, who can see the group normally. The sim has rebooted several times, and as far as we can tell it has been in this condition continuously for at least a couple weeks. The region is Sao Tiago - Isle of AvCor the group is "Avhi & Cordi's home" and the group creator/land owner is Avhi Milena. We can see the group data in the info pane, and this problem is the same for several different people using different systems (PC and MAC) and with objects created by different people.

Harry, I understand that this is affecting many members of the Avhi & Cordi's home Group

I am having trouble repro'ng your issue. Please could you add some information

  • in Group Info - Members & Roles - Abilities - Object Management - Manipulate
"Manipulate (move, copy, modify) group-owned objects in the Edit Tools > General Tab."

Please check who has permission for this ability

  • please clear both your cache Edit > Preferences and Group cache Advanced Menu > Clear Group Cache (Control ALT D Clear Group Cache)
  • could you please give details of one item that is showing the Group "Loading" The name and coords would be useful.

Thank you : )

Ella, the ones with that abilitya re Me, MelvinQ Wobbit, Avhi Milena, and Cordelia Quan.
An object that is group owned with this condition is called "Radio Changer" located at 169.755, 35.132, 26.989 in Sao Tiago
Cleared caches as your suggested but it had no effect.

Harry

Thank you for your feedback, Harry.

I can't repro this with the object you suggested but there are similar reports SVC-1815 & VWR-9655.

I am the owner of TIM DVD and Video products...we have seen this issue often...most especially since the last major server update happened..but it was happening occasionally prior to that...it seems to ONLY happen on island estates...and is normally fixed by a region restart.

We have more an more been running into this...and when we are there, the resident...that is either a group member or resident on that parcel, can often see the group name, on items he or she has in edit mode, but no one else can...I have personally stood on a parcel where this is happening, and not been able to see a group that anything was deeded to..or even set to...it just says "Loading..." on anything on that entire sim.

The only fix we have found for it...is not really a fix at all...but a work around...restart the region...

Historically, my support personnel and myself always use the most current general release viewer...we do NOT use the release candidate when providing support to customers...I can only assume this is a memory leak in the server software used on island estates, because it does not happen all the time...and it seems that there is no link to how long the sim has been running...

I'm hearing this issue is spreading. I read and followed what to do with the cache on both self and groups. I am having a very similar problem. I build something or go to change the group assignment in the item, I can't change it over to two specific groups, which are and were deeded to land. Guadian Angels Staff (which still has land deeded to it. and Guardian Angels Squadron, which no longer has land deeded to it..

There is an example as you teleport into Sunweaver Air, specifically at the center part of the sim, it will route you to a specific point, and from there. you should see a 5 meter radius spinning globe that i built as an example of what i am referring too.

Catten Carter added a comment - 07/Mar/09 01:17 AM
At a movie night I had that problem. A deeded video wouldn't respond to touch, and when ever I tried to set the group it just showed as loading. I relog on my part didn't change that.
I then gave the video to anoher person which apparently cleared up the loading part, as they saw the correct group, however the video would still not play.

We eventually tp'ed to another sim and watched the video there, and afterwards I returned and restarted the sim, and the video worked perfectly.

The region in question was Raglan Galaxy

Happened week of 3/3/09 in regions Slayton, Everfrost and Hydrogen, A server reset doesn't always cure the issue. The data server must be restarted. Sometimes it works but then other times the dataserver stops for no reason again. Basically the group dataserver is breaking communications with the region. This seems to be happening more and more since these new server upgrades...

Hello,

Harry: I looked at some of the objects in Sao Tiago, and I'm able to see the owner, creator, and group of all of them. Are you still seeing this problem?

Ranchan: I also checked out the spinning globe at Sunweaver Air 172,79,35, and I'm able to see the creator/owner/group for it as well.

Catten: I went to Raglan and was initially able to see this problem in the group field of both group-owned and avatar-owned objects. The group field showed "Loading.." for a few minutes before eventually resolving the group name to "Artisans Society".

This problem seems a bit transient, so any updates about other regions which exhibit this bug would be appreciated.

Hello all, I have had this bug a couple of times now and it's really annoying! After revamping my island I tried a couple of 'TV's out. They seemed to work well for a while that afternoon. On my return to the island I got my dreaded loading group message. So my Radio and TV ceased to function with the menu's. I have asked the SIM operator to restart for me and will see if that cures it.

I do believe this problem is affected by all the "network" upgrades.... this is easily reproducible for my group owned land.. every time they do these upgrades on the network my group owned objects cease to function until the sim is reset... the group still shows up and that is because it is cached... clearing my cache and then logging in will show the group as (loading...) this has been going on forever and it REEEAAALLLLY annoying as i cannot watch movies with my wife AND my land is not secured as security fails to work, forcing me to put up banlines to keep it protected

I'm having this problem on my group-owned parcel as well. While I see the group info, others can't, including members of the group. It's just media that seems to be affected, though when someone rezzed an object, the group info didn't load for him.

I can't use my radio station changer or load movies. Youtube videos will run intermittently. We've had the sim restarted but it didn't clear the problem.

I am a member of Nickola's group that she was having a problem with. At the time that this issue was occurring, I went to 3 other sims and tried to create objects and set them to her group. Any object that I tried to set to her group showed up as 'Loading....' in the group field of the object. But, I could successfully set the object to any other group that I was a member of, without issue.

After a sim restart, at least one intentional restart and one due to a rolling restart for server 1.26 version, things started to work again. Since we were offline when the restarts happened, we don't know exactly when things started to work.

But, the issue is occurring again this evening.

Initially, I was able to see her group. In trying to gather more information, trying different things and such, I cleared my cache and logged on again. I could no longer see her group on objects or set objects to her group on her sim or mine. Her sim is Enercay Midkey.

She said things had been broke for her since her cache cleared this morning when she logged on.

So, I was ok, until clearing cache. At that point, I could no longer see her group on objects or set objects to her group.

So, a couple of key points.
The problem may be occurring, but if cache has not been cleared, you may not see it.
When the problem is occurring the effect is on more sims than just the one which has land set to that group or contains object owned by that group. I tried sims that previously did not contain objects owned by the group and could not see the group on newly created objects for that group.

Noting that I haven't seen a recurrence since the upgrade to 1.26.4.

All group-owned objects have (so far) been loading properly, even after clearing cache.

This sounds like a problem that started 2 days ago on my parcel at October Moon. A video player that had previously worked fine now refuses to respond to touch and fails to display the menu. This player had been deeded to the group that owns the parcel.
In edit, the player now shows the owner as 'group owned' and the group as 'loading'. If I inspect the player, it says that the owner is '(nobody)'. Any attemps to stop/start or take/rezz the player fail with this message
" Plasma Screen: Error: Cannot modify parcel media settings. Plasma Screen is not owned by parcel owner."
If I click 'profile' next to 'Owner' on the edit general tab, it happily displays the profile of the land owning group.

This is a problem only with this group. I can deed objects to other groups and the group name displays OK. The problem is identical for my partner, who is the only other member of the land-owning group.
I have cleared cache, which makes no difference.

You are at 141243.6, 309226.2, 1735.2 in October Moon located at sim2047.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.16.52:13002)
Second Life Server 1.26.4.120562

An example of an object displaying these symptomes is 'Plasma TV / Picture Show' at October Moon 189.673, 235.017, 1736.780

By the way, in the General tab of World/about land, the parcel is shown as (Group owned) with the 'Info..' button displaying the owning group. However, the Group shows as (Loading...), as my objects do.

Edit March 29th... Has anyone any hints as to how this can be escalated? Not only has this thread been open since October 08, there are 18 other bugs/issues flagged as duplicates of this one. It's not just that we can't play video on our parcel, we are setting up a business that depends 100% on the ability to play video, and the project is dead until this gets resolved. As a basic account holder, I have zero options for reporting/chasing bugs.

I am having the same issue. And it seems to only be with my group. I can set items to other groups on friends land and the group loads just fine. I have cleared cache, and it makes no difference either. I have alternating issues with being able to click items, sometime it works just to click on them sometimes I have to right click and select touch in the dial menu to activate them. This is very aggravating. I have had the estate owner restart the sim and that did not fix the problem either.

Also as Constantine aboe, in the General tab of World/about land, the parcel is shown as (Group owned) with the 'Info..' button displaying the owning group. However, the Group shows as (Loading...), as my objects do.

I started SVC-2564, 23 June '08, on this issue and MISC-1663 is a late starter for the same issue. Mine was changed to "resolved" for some reason that I am not aware off.

My parcel used to regularly suffer many of these events and the temporary solution was to restart the sim. "Temporary" because the restart was not a fix due to its re-occurrence. LL staff informed me, each time I ticketed the problem, that it was a sim server problem and they were looking into it.
However, I have not seen this happen on my parcel for a long time now so I guess something in the server software was tweaked to fix it. Or was it?

I add my vote here because I fear it happening again to our group parcel with these new server rollouts. So far, it has not.

Our group tried everything to get at the cause. Re-logging, clearing cache, changing viewer clients? None made any improvements. It was purely a sim server issue.

I do not understand why this Jira is "MISC". It should be "SVC". Is there a reason for this?
