 Description  « Hide
The ability to close a JIRA post as resolved should only be available to Linden employee or the original poster. Just because some other resident does not like the post, or in their opinion it duplicates another post, or they think it is resolved, should NOT give them the ability to close a post. This ability to close another's post can easily result in abuse and should be removed.

That is not the way the JIRA works, please read the guidelines at: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Issue_tracker
Resolving an issue is sending it back to the reporter for review.

Resolved
This is an implicit assignment back to the reporter of the issue. It is not closed yet, but rather in a state of limbo that depends on the resolution. It's up to the Reporter to decide whether to reopen an issue, or close it.

I give up. Let the few who think they are the JIRA police enjoy this space.

LL set up this JIRA so that the community could become involved. They wrote the issue posting guidelines Harleen linked to to go give us an idea of what kinds of contributions would be welcomed from residents. This includes tidying up issues and resolving duplicates. Marking an issue as "Resolved" is NOT the same thing as closing it, and it does NOT mean the issue is dead and buried.

Furthermore, if you're having trouble with someone abusing the open nature of the JIRA, there are two options for redress. First, every action made by anyone on the JIRA can be reverted by anyone else, and there's a record of every action made on every issue. Second, if someone is persistently abusing the JIRA, you are welcome to contact LL directly. You can email Rob Linden, the JIRA manager, at <robla lindenlab com>.

In short, you misunderstand how LL intended this JIRA to function, and you also misunderstand the severity of the occasional aberrant action (which is far outweighed by the positive work residents do in organizing the JIRA).
