The chat log Chat.txt file captures all chat ok, but only captures incoming IM messages while it ignores outgoing messages. While both sides are available in the IM logs stored with the other person's name, the chat log should be a complete record.

This is because you can choose to include IMs in chat history (Preferences > Communication tab), but you can't send IMs from the chat bar. Intended functionality (altho I do hope for quicker ways to IM someone).

Throuble is when you include IMs in chat history only one side of the chat gets recorded - slightly less than elegant by anyone's definition.
