Steps to Reproduce

  • Delete user settings folder.
You only actually have to delete the cef_cookies folder from the per account folder
On Windows, this is at C:\Users\Whirly\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife\whirly_fizzle\cef_cookies

  • Login on http://automated-builds-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com/hg/repo/viewer-cef_viewer-cef/rev/305703/index.html

  • Open your own profile and the profile of another Avatar B.

    Observed Behaviour

  • All web profiles, including your own, display a Padlock icon at the top left.
    See Fig 1 attached.

  • You have to click the padlock icon and login to have full access to your own profile or to see friends profiles who have locked down their profile to friends only.

  • Open your own web profile, click the padlock icon & login.

  • Do not tick the "Remember me on this computer" checkbox.

  • See Fig 2 attached.

Observed
You now have full access to your own web profile.
If you close your profile and reopen it, you need to login again.
You still have to login to all other web profiles individually to fully access them.

  • Relog.
  • Open your own web profile again.

Observed
You have to login to your own and all other web profiles again.

  • Now login to any web profile, but this time tick the "Remember me on this computer" checkbox.

Observed
Once you have logged in via a web profile and you have ticked the "Remember me on this computer" checkbox, you are no longer prompted to login to any web profile either this session or after relogging.

  • If the cef_cookies folder is purged from the settings per account folder, you will be prompted to login again to access web profiles.

    Expected Behaviour

Not to have to login to web profiles on all my accounts when accessed via the viewer.
Not to have to repeat this process for all accounts each time I clean the viewer settings.
Maybe this is expected behaviour for CEF?

    Other information

  • Does not reproduce on default release: Second Life 3.8.4 (305119) Sep 15 2015 17:13:05 (Second Life Release)
    See Fig 3 attached.

  • A couple of times when I've attempted to sign in to my profile, the window has just turned white & I couldn't sign in.
After this happened, attempting to access any other profile just rendered a blank white page.
This persisted across relogs. I had to delete the cef_cookies & cef_cache to fix it.
I'll file another issue for that if it keeps happening.

The same problem happens when going to Me -> Marketplace Listings -> Edit Listing.
This opens the internal web browser at the edit listing page.

On default release, my avatar is automatically logged into the marketplace by the viewer at the correct page.
On Valhalla, I again have to sign in to the marketplace each time I go to edit listing.

I guess this has the same cause as the required sign-in for web profiles so I didn't file a seperate issue.

Hmmm this is happening again on Second Life 4.0.0 (309247) Dec 16 2015 19:01:02 (Second Life Release)
Should I file a new JIRA issue for it?

For anyone experiencing Profile login issues still, please do not download the old Valhalla viewer.

Please download the current viewer from http://secondlife.com/support/downloads/

If you see the padlock when you open any profile including your own, please login and check "Remember Me On This Computer". This will generally resolve the issue, however we are aware that it may not in all cases and are investigating further.
